I'll be awake in less than 8 hours, loading up the family truckster, and heading to Cowboys Stadium.

I'll be the drunk idiot yelling at the Enormo-Tron TV every time the Cowboys do something stupid. You can't miss me!

And I'm getting dragged to church at 4:00 eastern.

Curious to see if the stars will align and the Eagles make the playoffs. Here's the only way:

Jets beat Giants today at 1:00.
Eagles beat Cowboys today at 4:00.

Giants beat Cowboys next week, and Eagles beat Washington.

The Eagles would lose early in the playoffs anyway, but as a local, it's a good way to make watching the games interesting.

I was going to say Cowboys should rest their starters, but could they win today, lose next week, and make it to the playoffs as a 9-7 wildcard?

Here's hoping the Ravens at home can actually show up and stomp the Browns today.

If it is a close game....I'll be the guy with the earpiece cheering in my pew.

Come on Rams...you can beat a Rothlesrapist-less Steelers.

My month and a half of cheering for the Fins...ends today. Win and the Pats get a week off to better train that secondary they found down the road at the parking lot of the Plainville Lowe's.

Hmm. Cowboys win both games and clinch the division. If both the Giants and Cowboys lose next week, the two teams would still meet on January 1 with a chance for the Cowboys to clinch the NFC East.

I'm praying for a Jet win and an Eagles win, just so that the Eagles can hopefully capture the NFC East (by winning next week) at 8-8.

so that all the shiat the NFC West has taken the last few years with a 9 win or as last year, 7 win champion, all the butthurt about "OMG YOU GUYS SHOULDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO HOST A PLAYOFF GAME", that shoe will be on the other foot.

GO JETS!!!!!

GO.....uhh....Mike Vick or whomever is at QB for Phila.

As for Arizona, Kolb is listed as questionable. So Skelton is likely to get the start. Arizona's playoff chances are even more remote than Philly winning the east. However....Cool Stat:

Number of Starts as a Cardinal:
Skelton: 9 (6-3)

Kolb: 9 (3-6)

Perhaps most tellingly, Larry Fitz has taken baby steps towards the idea of SKelton being The Man. uh oh, Kenny Whiz.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Three-way tie at 9-7 between Dallas, Detroit, and Atlanta skips over head-to-head, and Dallas makes the playoffs on conference record.

If that happens, there will be much gnashing of the teeth. There is no reason a team that lost in a head-to-head match up should get bumped up in any situation.

After three straight weeks with at least twelve correct picks, last week was...shall we say, less than optimal. I missed getting my pick in before kickoff of the Thursday night game, which sucks because I was totally going to pick Indianapolis & even had the final score at 19-16 (that's my story, dammit). Week 16 super-happy-fun-fun picks follow:

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens:
The Ravens have won nine straight at home, seven straight against the Browns, and three straight on Christmas weekend. All that means that with opposite week over and done with, this should be a relative lock.

Denver Tebows at Buffalo Bills:
The Bills defense gave up over 200 yards rushing to Reggie Bush last week. Show of hands: how many people think they can shut down McGahee, Tebow, and company?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers:
Two bad teams with god-awful defenses square off in a "who cares" matchup--the difference maker will be that Carolina has a functioning offense. Meanwhile, Raheem Morris gets a nail in the coffin that is his head coaching career this Christmas.

Arizona Cardinals at Cincinnati Bengals:
The Cards come in riding a four-game winning streak, while the Bengals have struggled against tougher opponents, particularly of late. With both Detroit and Atlanta facing tough games this week, Arizona will keep their slim playoff hopes alive with the win.

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs:
Despite having just beaten the Packers and having won two of their last three, something bugs me about the Chiefs: namely, the fact that they haven't broken 20 points in a game since Halloween (and last week's win against Green Bay was the first time they'd scored more than 10 during that span). If for no other reason, I'm going with Oakland because that will further muddle things in the AFC West.

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots:
Hats off to the resurgent Dolphins, who are 5-2 after their horrid start. The Patriots, however, have won six straight while their offense is firing on all cylinders. Put that together with the game being in New England, and there's your winner.

New York Giants at New York Jets:
Man these teams are hard to figure out. Both can look like championship contenders on a good week, but both can look absolutely dreadful as well. I go with the Jets because they wear green, which should be a good omen for a Christmas Eve game.

St. Louis Rams at Pittsburgh Steelers:
I'd obviously love to see the Rams pull an upset, which combined with a Ravens win would clinch the division for Baltimore. And truth be told, there's reason to believe an upset could happen--Charlie Batch will start for the Steelers, and Pittsburgh's offense is 100% geared towards Big Ben being under center. But the Rams are just so bad that I don't think even Batch can lose against them.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans:
It's a hunch pick, which is often all that divisional games come down to. That said, the Titans have struggled to stop the run this year (23rd in the league), while Maurice Jones-Drew is having a stellar season. I believe he will be the difference this week, as the Jags complete a season sweep against Tennessee and effectively kill the Titans' playoff hopes.

Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins:
I saw a program titled "Viking Apocalypse" on the National Geographic channel the other night and thought it was about Minnesota's 2011 campaign. Interesting side-note: three teams went winless in inter-conference play this season, and these are two of them.

San Diego Chargers at Detroit Lions:
Philip Rivers and the Chargers are pulling their usual late-season rally, while the Lions seem to be doing their best to continue the team tradition of nose-diving down the standings. Fortunately for Detroit, their wild-card competition isn't doing much better. I look for the red-hot Chargers to run away with this one.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys:
The one constant in the NFC East over the past two months has been that anything which could establish one team as the clear front-runner will not happen. Amazingly, the Eagles will keep their paper-thin playoff hopes alive with the win.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks:
While the Niners seemed to lose a bit of thier spark after locking up the division, they appeared to rejuvenate themselves with the victory over Pittsburgh last week. Seattle's late-season run has borne them back into respectability, but expecting a win here is a bit much.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers:
The good news for Bears fans is that they've finally pulled the plug on the Caleb Hanie era. The bad news is that means Josh McCown under center.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints:
No team is playing better football than the Saints, at least on offense, and New Orleans is perfect this year at home. Atlanta won't be able to keep up in this one (and surprisingly, we get our second-straight interesting Monday Night game).

Pats-Fish rematch should be good. Both teams have come a ways since their first meeting. Pats secondary is still flimsy, offense much better, and the Fish are almost a completely different team.
