Could have talked them down to $8 and a candy bar.

That seems like a lot, considering Firefox would take quite a PR hit using Yahoo as its default.

$900m? Is there really that much revenue coming in? Do THAT many people actually click the first two search results (spam) to justify $900m?

But Yahoo is only an e-mail service, not a search engine.

/I Googled it to find out.

I'll still be able to use Dogpile, right?

I set Bing as peoples homepage and leave Google as the default search engine.
/People(tards) like a colorful background as a homepage
//Use to do Google Google for both but on return visits they have myfaceadultbook as a homepage

Yeah, my thought exactly. I don't think Firefox team has the leverage here.

I've actually been using Google less and Bing more lately. I don't know if they've been tweaking their search methodology or if Bing is just getting that much better or if there's just loads of crap being bumped on the web that Google can't quite handle, but Bing has really been getting better and better at giving me what I'm looking for quickly and easily.

Almost a billion dollars over three years just seems crazy to me... Are things that bad at Google?

Google had almost $30billion in revenue in 2010. $300m is nothing to them (the deal is 300m x 3 years).

It's decent, not fantastic, they just built one here in town and if you join the email list you get a coupon for free mediocre onion rings. At least they bring it out with two sauces. I liked the massive amounts of cheese in the spasagna though. The prices are Applebees-esque if not a dollar or two less per menu item. I do rage over $2.29 for a soda though.

Did...did this just turn into a Consumerist thread!?

Meh, I thought Google got a pretty sweetheart deal from Firefox considering the stakes.

In all the years I used Firefox (use Chrome mostly now) I never once, ever, used the little default Google searchbar at the top.

Compared to your other American-casual places (Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, Friday's, etc.), it's in the same price range but the food is way better. EIP if you want more info - one of my brothers works for the local one and is also a new-restaurant trainer.

Odd. I've pretty much given up on Google. About a bit more than a month ago, Google started farking up all my searches.

I'd search for something - pictures for Caturday, or whatever. Works fine initially. Next, I'd amend the search terms to get better results, and Google appends all the initial search's search terms onto the end of the new search's search terms - and you can't delete them, because they get added back every time you delete them and try to run a new search.

I gave up and switched to Yahoo.

/Google really needs to fire people.

I consider Yahoo a virus...or at least malware...And BING....LOL...I used it to search the term "windows update" and the correct link was 14th in the results.

I am a computer tech...(own the shop) and Google is still the best techie search engine.

Same reason they had to pay to put their own browser in their own OS

Yes. Even with AdBlock, Chrome still gave me ads up the ass.

I'm one of those annoying friends/coworkers that asks you easy-to-search information like it's your job so this doesn't really affect me.

Guh, my boss does that.

By the way, Cheddar's is awesome. I had the catfish (Cajun style) and loved it, and was surprised to see the menu was cheaper than Applebee's or places like that.
