It reminds me of those people with pokemon or Twilight tattoos. That shiat isn't going to age well. The technology will change so fast that he won't even hit middle age before it's useless. I think that trumps cool.

When my cousin was in her rebellious teenager phase, she got a tattoo of a dolphin on her ass. Her mom didn't even bother to get mad, she just said "Look at me and your dad, look at your grandparents, look at your sisters, getting fat is in your genes. It's not bad now, but in ten years, that dolphins going to grow into a whale."

Verdict's not in yet about Twilight, but pokemon has definetely had a longer shelf life than that bottlenose did - it's a humpback now.

A QR code tattoo that redirects your arm to a porn site

I've wanted to print out 8x8 QR codes made from sticker paper that do just this, or other similar redirects (rickrolls, ...) and then slap them on bus benches or any form of outdoor advertising.

Not as a statement against bus benches, just to be an asshole.

What has stopped me is that the sticker paper is actually pretty expensive.

Wouldn't it be easier just to get a link to chatroulette?

I wanted the characters for "kung pao chicken." Is that still old and busted?

Isn't the headline a bit backwards? Porn sites usually tend to redirect their viewer's arms after all.

100 sheets of 8.5x 11" adhesive backed paper for $18 (new window) is expensive? how many 1.5" QR code's can you block on a master 8.5x11" sheet, and you don't have access to a Xerox machine? A pair of friggen sissors!?
By GUM!! this is how we made Stickers for our olde punkerock bands back in the day and we LIKED IT!!!
its arts and craft day down at the Radical thought emporium!

that shiat looks like robot puke. qr codes are a design abomination. they will be looked upon with scorn and derision in years to come, and their creators will be destroyed. that is all.

Thank you, that's a real service. I must've had bad google fu about six months ago when I was thinking of this, I swear I was getting answers more like 75 cents a page.

I actually don't want to create 1.5" QR codes, I want to make 8x8" QR codes so that they can be scanned from a passing car or bus.

So for instance, a lot of these are on nearby bus stops, and I just think they would be perfect for QR Rickrolls / Pornrolls / Linking to a local politician and other stupid shiat.

not a problem sir, and I wasn't trying to be mean when I made my post ( mearly Snarky ;) ) But, any office supply store would sell you a ream of at least a hundred sheets of adheasive backed regular paper for pretty cheap. We'd get the ream, make our design and repeat it as much as we could on a master graphic, run it through the Xerox machine at the Kinkos using the sticky paper as the print media. run the results over to the DIY paper cutter thing on the other side of the Kinko's and BAM! we got a bunch of band stickers to pass out!

We also got to be all Hippy Punk rock and say that the Stickers were "biodegradable" so stick them up wherever! which is kinda true.. it's just regular paper with sticky on the other side.. after a couple of rains, the things were gone.

you want to do 8x8" Random QR code stickers? why not settle for 4x4" and get eight from a standard sheet? plenty big to be noticeable and scannable.

See that's knowledge worth gold. Sadly, I was never part of a band.

It's an interesting experiment I guess to decide the minimum size of a QR code meant to be scanned from a bus bench by someone in a car or bus one to two lanes over.

Be a nice mash-up to place the locations of all the bus benches on a google maps posted on a website where visitors could put in their favorite urls to redirect the QR codes to, and possibly record for them the number of scans, etc.

In my opinion, I don't think they would notice it from two lanes over reguardless of the size, and even then, they probably wouldnt have the time to whip out the scanning device to even check it out in the first place, so you would be better off targeting street level pedestrian traffic anyways.you dont want to get the guy on the bus that's staring out the window, you want to catch the guy waiting for the bus at the bench, or the guy sitting on the bus and sees the sticker in front of them on the bench in front of them.
A lot of the time when I would do this stuff we didn't have them fancy QR codes an interactive technology DAGGUNNIT!!!! ( sorry ) I took ques from the Andre has a posse "obey" thing and just made random Pictures, ran them through a high contrast wash out so it was absolute black and white, try to be simplistic, turned them into stickers, and just slapped them up whenever, and where ever. bus stops, toll booths. bar bathroom stalls.. call it street art, call it graffiti, what have ya, it engages people and it should be interesting to you and your intended audience.
