TFA makes no mention of E-ZPass.

Does NJ have employees working in the booths at the E-ZPass lanes? I don't drive in the NE US often, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone working in a booth in the E-ZPass lane.

Actually, they do (despite what other posters have said). Well, kinda.

A lot of the smaller exits and bridges only have two or three lanes. One or two of those are cash, the other(s) are EZ Pass. At the Trenton Bridge for example, it's not uncommon for the toll taker to lean out of the left window (where the EZ Pass lanes are) to let folks know that they're in the wrong lane.

But an EZ Pass dedicated lane? Nope... even NJ draws the line at manning those.

I worked in a toll booth by logan airport for a few summers. It was a college program so I only got $10 an hour compared to the $30 the regular hacks were making. Some toll plazas in Massachusetts have dedicated lanes that are both EZ pass and cash lanes.

Oh yeah. Its the best gig in the state. Until a few years ago, sick and vacation days rolled over. One guy had so many that he took every summer off for a five years. I would have taken the winter off because you have no idea how many boobies you see on a hot summer day.

Cripes, did you see the linked article? They're jacking up tolls by 50 PERCENT on the GSP and NJTP. It's already cheaper to take a bus from DC-NY than it is to pay the tolls.....
