Nice to know we all silently agree. At least 377 times...

Republican voters: You are a fat, ugly girl. You can try on all the different dresses you want - you ain't going to the prom next year.

To be fair, is there any religious group that can outspend the mormon church?

FTA: The sad spectacle of the FAMiLY Leader organization-whose board, after administering a controversial pledge document and then holding a candidate forum, could not reach agreement on an endorsement-is something of a microcosm of the Right's failure to separate the sheep from the goats throughout the invisible primary

Obviously Ed Kilgor and I have very different definitions of "sad" here.

Frankly, I find the spectacle of the RW social conservatives splintering due to absurd purity tests and changing demographics to be farking HI-larious.

/YMMV.

I just don't think social issues are going to get much traction this election cycle. The voters want answers on jobs and the economy. They don't give a fark about gay people being married. Well, perhaps more accurately, they may or may not be in favor of gay marriage or abortion restrictions, but they are far more motivated by other issues.

You ever seen one of the big Cornerstone or Hope churches like we have around Iowa? Frightening things. We used one for a conference back when Iowa State's facilities were flooded out. Looking around one of the three auditoriums, I saw over $250,000 in just audiovisual equipment. Their Sunday school classrooms were nicer than most of the public schools around here - and we have good public schools. And their intramural basketball league had more participants than the local YMCAs.

But yeah. Social conservatives are quite concerned about curtailing unnecessary spending, and their leaders keep telling their followers to just pull themselves up by their boot straps and work harder.

This. Why is the primary is getting so much attention? It feels like a slow-motion implosion. I feel like the Republicans are much further in the wilderness than they, and perhaps many in the media, recognize yet.

Maybe I'm overstating the case here but I feel this party has at last made too many critical errors, and that they are probably not long for this world.

Their soup kitchen must be incredible!

And what about their shelter for the homeless?

If only that meant the social conservatives would disappear along with it.

But it doesn't, and they will set up something else.

Good. Fark the social conservatives for trying to make the party go in a direction that most the country doesn't care about anymore. It just creeps me out that so many candidates from my party are perfectly content to make America a theocracy.

The social "conservative" agenda is economically retarded

2011-12-23 04:19:14 PM
At this point, selecting a "social conservative" is all about what type of bigotry you like best. Hate gays? Try Santorum or Gingrich. White supremacist? Try Ron Paul.

You are overstating your case and you sound silly. Politics is a cyclical deal.

What does that have to do with the fact that the Republicans deserve to die out as a political party?

He's even a Republican, so not terribly far-fetched!

In all serious, though, I think it's a splendid Capitol building even if it's Older than God. They don't let people go to the top anymore, but I used to know someone who knew someone who worked there, and I got to hang out in that circular platform on the top center spire.

People only care about "social" issues (teh buttsecks, blowjobs in the Oval Office) when they are gainfully employed and have cash in their pockets.

Now, not so much.

There is no one whose failures bring me more pleasure than social conservatives. If you are a social conservative, I hope you never get a damn thing you want and I hope it eats at you to know that the world passes you by a little more every day.

Social Conservatives reminds me of Ancient Astronaut Theorists: full of shiat, ready to jump to conclusions and shunned by the general public because they're all nutters.

Where' s hair is a bird guy when you need him?

Old school "conservative" liberals piss me off more than social conservatives. They are the idiots who show up in droves when a building or house is proposed that is 2.3" taller than code and insist Hilter himself must be constructing that building.

Vintage whidbey! DESERVE appears nowhere in that post, and once again you display all the attributes of every troll you hate. I'm responding to his claim that the party is in the process of dying out. Both parties have been much further in the wildnerness and the Republicans have the electoral momentum right now in this cycle. This is not a judgment post. You and I probably have plenty of common ground with "deserves" at least on one side, so go spit.

/I still believe President Obama will continue to be our president.
