Huh? What is this?! It's 6 a.m. C-Country Kitchen should be open!

It's not open? It has to be!

Try a window.

They're blocked from the inside.

No... Let us in! Let us in!

Open the door! It's six a.m.

Open the Country Kitchen Buffet for us!

You have to let us in!

I'm sure an agrarian state like Iowa has plenty of spare pig troughs for their buffet needs.

Ah, buffets. When you don't care what you eat, as long as there's a shiatload of it.

Under-performance says it all, the residents were eating too much for what they were paying but more importantly they were not telling enough of their friends to come eat with them.

And the mall management? Really? it was a surprise to you that a business who lease was not renewed and who never talked to you about lease renewal.. it was a surprise they left? Just how bad are you at your job that you cant put two and two together?

I heard that foxnews is scrolling images of food from the old country buffet along the bottom of their news bullshiate-casts.

/Next weeks news item: People found dead in front of their TV sets with foxnews on.
//On scene responders said: It's like they drooled themselves to death.

My guess is that people are starting to go there for lunch, and stay through dinner. When you're sitting down trying to eat, fatasses can't get between the back of your chair and the back of the chair of the person sitting behind you.

This is the problem with headline writers these days. Back when I was in school, we were taught to use quotation marks to show what someone actually said, not as a commentary of an article. Don't like subby fool you, there are other buffets in Coralville and Iowa City.

"Underperforming"?

The last I checked, in restaurant circles, that was the new buzzword for "too damn cheap to pay for a real, competent manager". I actually heard of a restaurant manager being fired after three consecutive years of 20% sales growth. Reason cited? Underperformance. What sort of industrial strength stupidity makes you kill the golden goose? It just doesn't make sense.

/ all the restaurants I hear of doing this ultimately close up shop
// and they deserve it for trying to go cheap

I have a friend who WAS that manager, or so he claims-I never looked at his book to verify. Reasons he got called an underperformer:
--Sure his sales were up, losses were down, so profits were up. But he wasn't PERSONABLE. I kid you not.
--By "personable" they meant "employees were complaining about him because other managers would let them get away with excuses about late-shows, ServSafe violations, etc, but he ran his show with an iron fist." So yeah he was underperforming in the employee retention side: nobody wanted to work in the rulemonger's shop when you could work for a slackass.

A likely explanation: The manager was good, damn good, and as such, liked to sass back at corporate. For a while, he got away with it, since let's face it, he's bringing in the dough. Then, finally, corporate decides that his particular style of insubordination (Likely Loophole Abuse [Can you tell I'm a Troper?]) and decide that they need a way to get rid of him. It's likely NOT a right to work state, meaning that they can't just fire him and be done with it, so instead, they decide to increase his sales goals. Unfortunately for them, the first year they try this, he hits his goal. Corporate ups the goal again, and he hits it, AGAIN. So they raise it to astronomical levels, and that's when he fails. They're free to fire him, since he did not hit his sales goals.

As for the stupidity? Ya got me.

Honestly? I always liked working with those types of managers, provided they weren't flaming assholes who trod roughshod over their employees.

Buffets are a guilty pleasure of mine. I go maybe once every 3-4 years. I've always loved them I think because it was a family ritual with my grandparents as a kid. If I went to a buffet even once a month I'd probably be as big as a house. It crappy, high-calorie food. Bad idea.

True, but once employees got used to working with a slackass...somebody actually enforcing third party rules will look like a flaming asshole by comparison.

True enough, but there are personable managers and ones who only care about increasing sales, even at the expense of the actual, hard-working employees.
