Reminds me of the horrific rioting in Edinburgh (new window, should be SFW but beware disturbing and very real contents) this past summer.

Maybe He doesn't like people sucking up to Him. Especially around His birthday.

10 months ago, New Zealand was struck by a larger earthquake that killed over 180 people.

It's a bit callous to make light of damage in today's earthquake considering how ravaged the country (and Christchurch specifically) was less than a year ago.

THey have funny trees in New Zealand. They look like wavy sea ferns.

2011-12-23 09:21:08 AM
Would you say it's time for the people of Christchurch to start cracking each others heads open and feasting on the goo inside?

That was really sad and my sympathies went out to the families, but since at that time a bunch of acquaintance of mine were all like, "ZOMFG!!! The Hobbit Production! What will this mean to our favorite smokin hawt actors!" and then when the tsunami hit Japan, they could not even be arsed to mention it....I'm going to have a laugh at this one.

If only there was some...way...that they could somehow...pick...up...the tree before Christmas.

If only they had a respected religious figure who could assure them that this is truly their fault because a vengeful god has deemed them to have strayed from the commandments and have become apostates and blasphemers in his sight.

I fully support sending them Pat Robertson as a goodwill gesture for Christmas.

I'm certain that it can help.

There are people killed every day from earthquakes, tornadoes, wildfires, and tsunami. Every goddamn day. There is literally not a single day that doesn't go by when dozens of humans are dead from a natural disaster, or it's nearly the anniversary of a previous one, but accordingly to you we are to respectfully silent essentially nonstop. Bullshiat.

/needs his gallows humor to get up in the morning.

I'd have a better appreciation of the situation if there was one of the slide-over before-and-after thingys the Japanese tsunami aftermath stories always have.

I was speaking with a friend not 3 days ago about why I won't buy online with Amazon.
I got hit with a bogus credit card charge, some sonofabiatch in Christchurch, NZ tried to run up $350
on my card. We talked about the quake that hit them back then.
Then I read the headline this morning. Creeped me out.

"And for lo, the symbols of the Christ will be borne sideways, and all of their ornaments shall likewise; and a great shaking of the ground shall come to pass, and only the righteous will be spared in their Houses. The first Signs shall appear in a land to the Southeast, and reports shall surface of a family in peril." - Revelations, 942:623

Truly, we live in the End Times.

We had a 20 pounder that lived to age 19. The last few years of his life he would go by the tree once a day and knock one ornament off the bottom, then walk away.
I think it was his way of saying "I don't want to have to take you down, but you should know that I can should I need to".

Bingo! Right to the heart of the matter. Now though, I'll be pondering this mystery all thru the holidays.

I was in a 6.9 in October and there was very little damage. Quoting another Farker:
"It was 5.9 that killed 200-odd people in February. The Richter scale is a measure of total energy release, not immediate violence."
