Typical female... goes out to pick up "just a couple things" and comes back seven years later.

How does an 8 year old not know her parents' names?

roothog: How does an 8 year old not know her parents' names?

Major, major, horrible trauma of the kind we'll never know, at a young age? Perhaps all of her mental resouces went to daily survival for 7 years?

roothog: How does an 8 year old not know her parents' names?

She's from Indonesia, she probably just couldn't pronounce them.

I gota know what happened in the past 7 years. This seems kinda crazy.

Well to be fair, she is a teenager now. Just wont admit who her parents are.

JohnnyCanuck: I gota know what happened in the past 7 years. This seems kinda crazy.

I don't want to know. Honestly, given that it's a part of the world where unclaimed children are almost guaranteed a short life of being trafficked until aids or a customer kills them... I think the details would probably soul-crushingly hard to hear.

2011-12-22 03:58:36 PM
Nah, as a teenager she is just embarrassed to be seen with her parents. No dust in the room?

roothog: How does an 8 year old not know her parents' names?

Considering that she could remember her grandfather's name, maybe both her parents spent so much time working outside the home that she never spent time with them. That's before we account for any damage from the tsunami and the exposure and starvation that probably followed.

Man I tell ya what Poe, about that dang ol' meaning of life, man. It's like this. You like a butterfly flappin' his dang ol' wings deep down in that ol' forest, man, gonna cause a tree to fall over like, five thousand miles away. And nobody see it and nobody don't even know it happen. Ya know man, babies born into this world, they don't got no ding ol' dang ol' friends, gonna come in and find out all about it. Man see like, you don't even know, it's like you're born into this world, man, and you're like this. You're like dust in the wind, or like a candle in the wind, it don't matter man. You think therefore you are, man.

I like how the artist used creative license to put some panties on the mermaid, like he was thinking ahead of the curve.

roothog: How does an 8 year old not know her parents' names?

...or where she's from; and apparently there's only one person named Ibrahim in Indonesia and everyone knows him.

I'd take a wild guess the "events of her seven year ordeal" were probably better than the 8 years that preceded it, until recently, and that's why she decided to finally go home.

Girl goes out. Girl comes in. Just like the tides. She is at one with the freaking moon. Or an Alien hybrid clone.

The agency reported that the girl was mistaken for a beggar when she first appeared in the cafe

I don't get this? So if they thought she was merely an 8-year old beggar then they weren't going to help her find her parents? Are 8-year old beggars that common over there that it's no big deal when one shows up begging for food?

The sides tie on. Well, the bottom does as well, but they had to poke a hole through her for it.

roothog: How does an 8 year old not know her parents' names?

Perhaps she only knew them as mother, father, elder brother, younger brother, etc.? In the Chinese language, there are specific, singular words for various relatives. For example, there are three words for uncle: father's elder brother (baak), father's younger brother (sook), mother's brothers (kau foo). It's rare to call your relatives by their given names in East Asia. Perhaps it's the same for Indonesia.

It's sad that she didn't receive any help for those seven years. There are probably so many orphaned, unwanted street kids after the tsunami that people stopped caring.

Are they making another Addam's Family with the exact same plot as the first one?

That's just lazy and some of us actually remember it.

Lots of dust.
And a late entry for the most fu(king moronic question of the year.

I mean, not knowing what happened for the LOST finale....

I work with people who actually spout this shiat. Let's ignore all the other dead people and animals, one girl was saved. THERE IS A GOD! We'll ignore the fact that he's a mean asshole for failing to save anyone else and forcing her to wander for years before finding her family. But then it's pretty apparent from the Bible that he farking sucks at giving directions.
