Church of Scientology?

I'm in.

Adidas, you are big company with well paid marketing people. Come up with a new slogan.

Just do it.

I've never purchased an Adidas product in my life. This just ensured that trend will continue.

Adidas is my go to brand of everyday shoe - they are being dicks, but I will continue to wear my Sambas, Campuses and Shell Toes.

Being a Bulls fan, I hate to see they are dragging Rose into this - he is a great player, but he seems like the kind of guy that would have trouble spelling his name.

All Day I Dream About Screwing a charitable church Charlotte Church.

Adidas can stop being dicks about this too. Seems like it would be cheaper to change the name instead of fighting it. Something like ADILESS (trademarked by Whatthefark 2011) could work.

If they really want it, why not add a zero to the $5,000 they offered the church? I mean is the church really going to make $50,000 off of their merchandise?

$5,000 is just insulting.

Then again, maybe the church should just pray harder.

$5k? Why didn't they just offer a piece of paper that said "Thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine."

too bad churchy you will lose

The Church trademarked it 5 years ago, 2 years ago they were offered 5K, in the last 2 years obviously haven't used it, or rigorously defend the copyright, now they want to block this unused and abandoned property because you can smell money.

You are in business, I am in business, I can't help it if I am better at business than you are.

First, ADIDAS, that product line name sucks balls, so don't fight over it.

Second, before you get a hard-on for a name for a new product line, maybe you should check to see if it's available or not. This should have been sorted out months before.

Seems more like Trademark squatting to me than anything else. Anyway if they really want to strike back at Adidas they should make a deal with Puma, nothing will piss them off more.

If going through the proper channels to obtain a trademark is "screwing", then this country is farked.

0/10

If Adidas is fighting a church, they aren't as good at business as you seem to think they are. Because that's a good PR move.
Newsflash, deriving your identity from what brand you buy is even more pathetic than deriving your identity from what sports team you cheer for.

FTFA: "In November, 2010, Adidas petitioned the U.S. Trademark Office to cancel the Church's trademark, on ground the Church hadn't used the name enough. The petition is pending."

The most disturbing part of this article is that in over a year this ridiculous petition hasn't been decided. I guess the patent officials figure if they just wait long enough, the church's patent will expire and they'll be spared the burden of having to rule on the petition.
