The game controller chart should be "Continuous Intelligent Design" and would serve to show the difference between evolution and design practices.

My ex thought the deterioration of our relationship was all my fault - then I showed him the graph. You can't argue with graphs, because they're made of facts.

You can't make graphs about graphs. Not without expanding beyond the 3rd dimension.

Too bad that video game controller chart is god-awful.

* Terribly drawn art
* Terrible and misinformed connections
* Doesn't have the Wii Remote listed as a direct descendent of the Famicom/NES controller

No joke. For whatever reason high-school Chemistry didn't come naturally to me, but a few years of rolling over in bed and seeing that chart on the wall made it all plain. It's about as informationally-rich as it gets. I think mine only goes up to Mendeleveum, but I'm still thinking of having a few decades of tobacco smoke and dust cleaned off of mine and then laminating it. It used to have pride of place in my dining room if you want to talk true geekery.

... more like god-AWESOME!

looks like Chris Ware designed it, who is freaking incredible. and i might be buying the Money chart. they have a gigantic one (6' x 4') for $95 which is so tempting, but the $15 one (3' x 2') seems more practical.

I hate to be a nerd, but that "evolution of video game controllers" one completely omitted the Coleco Marksman rifle.

Really? I thought most of those "charts" belonged in chart hell, and the bastards who created them need to be fired.

I would be incredibly pissed if one of my people presented something like that.

All great except the Envisioning Technology one. The maker is clearly very misinformed. Also they seem to swap between emergence and common use of a given technology quite often for which future time period they see things. There is stuff shown which has been around since the late 80's but just isn't in any common implementation.

Definitely glad XKCD's The Money made it though.

I enjoy the twitter chart. Look at all the english in the shipping channels. I'll bet that's actually a giveaway of American naval movements.

maxheck: Minard's chart of Napoleon's Russian campaign works pretty well.

Oddly enough, the Perot Systems (now Dell Consulting) office in Tampa has that framed & hung in the visitor greeting bay.

Some of the charts seem inaccurate or use unreliable data. For instance, where is the twitter language chart getting its user location information from? The fact you aren't seeing any non-English tweets in the USA is highly suspicious. So they sure as hell aren't using tweet geotagging.
