Clearly this is why rich people need tax breaks. Why, just think of the poor hurting person having to sell this island, and to add insult to injury, having to lower the price from 10.5 million to 7.995 million? Oh, the ignominy! The shame!

And you people have the unmitigated *gall* to ask these tragic heroes for more tax money. You. Make. Me. Sick.

Good Lahd! I'd buy it for the bahr, alone!

Very sweet. Too bad it is in Maine and only inhabitable 3 months of the year.

This is one of the few places on the planet that's actually worth $8 million.

2011-12-21 04:42:05 PM
We should all go in together and buy it.

I can put up $20 dollars for it for the majority share.

2011-12-21 04:47:32 PM
I wouldn't give a penny over $6M for it.

I couldn't be bothered to read the whole article, could somebody please tell me if it has access to the water table and it's own power plant? I really can't go over 5.8M if it's not self-sustaining.

Some canons, some bears.. you could totally turn that into an evil island hangout.

I will live there, for a fee plus maintenance, and perform any wordly duties you may require.

For the right fee, that is...

;)

I'll only buy it if it has a semi-active volcano, but with caves that I could use to build my lair... I mean, kitten factory.

I know, right? People who have more stuff than me should have it all taken away and given to me because they don't deserve it and I do. Damn the man!

I would invest in Fark Island, but only if I could stay there when I'm around from wandering...

I'd pay more than $25 too.

But not much.

Came here to say this. That and if I remember correctly, Maine has some awful tax rates.

I just looked at it on Google Maps and it looks like it can be reached from the mainland at low tide. Not the best for keeping the peasants away.

Aww, bs, I can live there all year round. I like winter. I am a farking something if I'm anything, and by God, I could/can/do live in the world's worst conditions should I choose to do so...

"Inhabitable 3 months of the year."...

Pussy.

Frick. I'd live there in a tent for twelve for the right fee.

Pussy squared.

I'm still looking for that Georgia lottery ticket. I think I used it as a bookmark, but I can't remember which book.

Very nice, but I would not buy it if I had a spare $8 million. If I could spare that kind of money I would buy up for lots here in Chicago, tear down the houses on the two in the middle, turn one house into my 3-floor dream home and turn the other into a guest house.

It's not worth having unless it has an underground lair and missile silos. Unless you are a 99 percenter with low expectations.

findthefish: Beer runs would be a biatch....pass

Ummm....hello.....staff?
I'm pretty sure the island comes with them- you know, like a line of people who have never left the island. They are possibly a little mutant from the inbreeding, but when you dress them in funny outfits replete with bells they're probably really adorable in some way. Not that you would socialize with them, but they would certainly be most diverting for an hour or two; after the entertainment (juggling most likely) they scuttle off to their shed. You could probably train one to make beer for you, which is likely the best option; once the little buggers get a whiff of freedom they can be rebellious and then you have to get out the thorny beating stick; no one really likes to see that kind of violence, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Of course, after the beating it's always good to make amends. I suggest hot cocoa, and possibly a gift like a little sheep outfit you can make them wear when they're working in the vineyard; dressed in that manner they would look like animals grazing about your lands- which would really complete the pastoral feel of the island.

A few years back I saw an ad for an island in Java for $20 million. Came with a bunch of fruit orchards and a small village, though you didn't own the land the village was on.

That place reminds me of one of the Smackbottom estates I weekended at once. Plithington on Fernmeadow I believe it was called. A bit grander where the house was concerned, and of course this place lacks stables of any kind it would appear. The bar, however stocked, was not up to the standards of that boathouse though.
