Also, vodak for breakfast = A-OK!

Agreed, and agreed.

Bah, apparently you can't use the soviet russia phrase at all. Not even if you try to re-word it. Oh well. You know the drill.

"I do believe that humans are destroying the planet [in other ways]. But what's going on upstairs, I don't believe that is [anthropogenic], not after my drive. I saw a glacier in the Gobi desert. Go figure."

Yeah, and there was a thunderstorm in the arctic. Go figure. The article is right, you weren't doing science. You wouldn't know science if it struck you in the forehead like a fake snorkel.

Interesting article - I wish I could do that.

The headline is making me thirsty. I already had breakfast, but it's still before noon.....

Dear author: Make that trip again, only this time take someone with you who can articulate what they saw in a coherent narrative instead of whatever stream-of-consciousness observational who knows what the hell that was.

You caught that too?

Also, I know the guy is peddling his book, but is it asking too much to see a map of his route? Oh, and his website blows.

Did they drive the long way around the world, and over the water?

DNRTFA but seriously he saw a glacier in the gobi and concludes no anthropogenic climate change? farking moron. The Arctic is technically a goddamn desert FFS. The Gobi is at a pretty high northern latitude AND 3,000-5,000 feet above sea level.

Also Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are laughing at Hong Kong to Portugal

The best part of that journey would have been from Sai Kung to Shenzhen. After that I think I would have turned back and headed over to the Smuggler's Inn in Stanley for some proper drinking.

Yeah, I don't know. I took it to mean a real snorkel for engines and he just didn't know how to articulate that it's not what a diver might use?

When I started off at Cape D'Aguilar in Hong Kong, I filled a little bottle with sea water and put it in my glove compartment. The saddest part of the trip was pouring it over the edge of Cape Saint Vincent in Portugal and turning the engine off.

In other news, a invasive micro-organism is decimating sea life along the coast of England.

Truth. I have made beer popsicles in an ordinary home freezer, and pulled off cheap-wine-sicles as well. The bottle of gin visibly gains viscosity but does not freeze.

No freakin' kidding. When I read this I wanted to facepalm. "I saw a glacier in a high desert which contains regions with annual average temperatures below freezing. But because deserts are HOT, as I learned in elementary school from reading about death valley and the Sahara and extrapolating, climate change is a farce."

I've always sort of wanted to drive off-road from Dakar to the eastern-most tip of Russia. Probably won't happen, but it'd be awesome if I did.

One night I smoked this drug called Spice and became extremely paranoid. I ran into the car, locked it and hid under a blanket. The whole world was spinning and my heart was going and the guys just said, it'll wear off in 28 minutes. And it did.

The drugs will wear off in 28 minutes beats out I have to be at the gym in 26 minutes every time. It's the new intrawebs meme!

Wait a few years and it'll become exclusively an ocean. On the other hand, you have the Antarctic as the biggest desert on the planet, about half-over the size of the sahara

Deserts by size

Kinda like rescuing a bunch of toddlers from a burning orphanage, and you're quoted at the scene denying the Holocaust...

You can't critique his basic science mistakes unless you've driven off road in China.

Little known fact.

/if I ever meet this guy in Hong Kong I'll try to explain to him that all deserts are not hot. And that Antarctica is a desert. Stuff I learned by second grade.
