Is this the same thing a guy was trying to market on Shark Tank?

I like this one better: Ultimate Battlefield 3 Simulator (pops, FF to 9:30 for demonstration)

Seems kinda cool, but isn't it really just a huge trac-ball to replace WASD controls and a VR headset to replace look-stick function?

It seems like its just too huge to be practical. I could see this at something like a state fare but not at my local Dave and Busters.

I got to play in one of these at PAX 2005. We were playing a scenario based on the streets of an actual city, and the designer told us that it was to-scale. One of his proposed ideas was to market it to the military to familiarize soldiers with the layout of a city before they went in. I guess that fell through.

One thing about it - the walking does not, in ANY way, feel normal. It's very hard to stay upright. The experience was very cool, mostly due to the novelty of the device. However, I wouldn't call it "fun" in any way.

That's the impression I got from the video. The ball is going to carry its own momentum so there's no way you would be able to stop and turn on a dime.

At 3:42 of the vid you can spot someone outside of the sphere giving him a "helping hand" to get the ball moving.. I'm guessing they were helping for all inertia change moments of that video...

Should be great until the first person faceplants with those goggles on and sues them into bankruptcy.

I'm not going to invest based upon a six minute video with ten seconds of gameplay footage. Seems like a scam.

if they used one of these with it: http://sensics.com/products/pisightSection/ - it might be pretty cool, would also need a floating kinect or something to enact controls. still, the whole right would cost way, way too much right now. would love to see those pisight things at 500 bucks and functioning as advertised. d-rool.
