(SlashFilm) Interesting Don't worry, they're writing the script for the seventh Fast and Furious movie while they're writing the sixth, so you won't have to wait between films. Not that it takes too long to write those things anyway   (slashfilm.com) divider line 44

Give them some credit; it takes someone with the right mix of street cred, stupidity, imagination, and lack of knowledge of physics to write those.

What a coincidence - my friends subjected me to Fast Five just last night. By god, that's one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen.

I got two down on paper while taking a dump just a little while ago. Damn indian food.

It's good to know that in this economy, people are trying hard to find work for Vin Diesel.

Too bad.

2011-12-21 01:00:35 PM
Fast 5 was a great action flick.

2011-12-21 01:01:46 PM
The first and second ones weren't too bad as mindless entertainment. Then suddenly we got all SRS business in Tokyo Drift and it went downhill.

Also wtf with TD? You're in Japan and the lead actress is some ugly Indian girl? If you're setting your film in Tokyo, embrace it.

Kingly Weevil: It's good to know that in this economy, people are trying hard to find work for Vin Diesel.

I'm hoping Diesel cleans up on this and Ridley Scott cleans up on The Good Wife, so we can get ourselves another Riddick movie or two.

Fastererererer and Furiousererererer.

/will 7 be the Fastest and Furiousest?

2011-12-21 01:02:06 PM
What they need to do is figure out a way to combine this franchise with the Step Up franchise. That way we can get a scene where Vin Diesel is having a dub-step battle on the hood of his GTO going 105mph. For pinks.

2011-12-21 01:03:07 PM
So whats the 6th one going to be called? The Fast & The Fabulous? With the 7th being called The Rock Vs Riddick Furious 7?

2011-12-21 01:08:03 PM
ha-ha-guy: another Riddick movie or two.

Considering only one of them was good, I'd rather not.

2011-12-21 01:12:32 PM
You know, I recall seeing an interview on "Today Now!" with the screenwriter of "Fast Five," and I was impressed at all of the hurdles he had to overcome to make the film: Interview here (new window)

As much as I'd like to mock the franchise, its handling itself well (other than Tokyo Drift, of course). The last one made monster money, and misogyny complaints (not by me) aside, it was entertaining. I think the transition from 'car movie' to that action/heist/team awesome move they made is going to work for them.

She's Australian, and she's smoking hot, they need to get her and Lucas Black back in this thing to wrap it all up nicely.

Tokyo drift is fantastic. The cameo at the end? Awesome.

At least the first one was good.

The Fast and Furious series has writers?

It seems like I'm the only one who liked Tokyo Drift waaay more than 2Fast, 2Furious. Although I would appreciate more 'real-world' races & crashes in the series. The Charger crash in the first film is one of my all-time favorite scenes.

Nah you are not the only one. I liked Tokyo Drift better than the first 2 and the 4th one. The last one wasnt to bad. Hell even Ebert liked Tokyo Drift.

I really liked the latest movie. The Rock was in top form. I'd honestly like to see a spinoff of just him and his team traveling the world and hunting down terrorists or whatever.

Haters gonna hate, I guess.

Also, they need to make a sequel to the Rundown.

I think TD would sit better without being part of the franchise. I just have some kind of mental preset where whenever I see the name Fast and Furious, I expect to see Vin Diesel (and maybe Michelle Rodriguez) doing stupid stuff.

/maybe that's because I really enjoy Diesel as a mindless popcorn flick actor

By the way, Fast 5 made 636 million worldwide on a budget of 125 million. It also pulled in another 30 million in DVD sales. You're goddamn right they're going to make more of them.

Where does Tokyo Drift take place in relation to the first two?

texdent: Where does Tokyo Drift take place in relation to the first two?

The diseased mind of an alcoholic Russian clown battling his haunting memories of child sexual abuse at the hands of Ilya Nikolayevich.

It was surprisingly art house for the series and Vin Diesel's stunning performance as Neville Chamberlain's cross-dressing uncle was grossly overlooked by the academy.

It's a weird timeline. TD takes place after all of the other movies, since Han dies in it and he is in later movies. I would say it goes 1, 2, 4, 5, 3

It's more or less a teen boy's imagination in movie form. They can cash in over and over and over..

That explains why in the last one, the thought 'isn't that guy dead?' popped into my head.

That's why I'm praying for a Lucas Black sighting in the next two. It would just tie everything up nicely.

A Neela sighting would be just fine too.

Dot heads, Japs, Chinks who cares. Americans can't tell the difference between brown or yellow people anyway.

Gosling: Wait.

The Fast and Furious series has writers?

In much the same way that Michael Bay does...Technically, there are people, somewhere trying to come up with dialogue/story that connects the dots between physics bending action sequences.

Fast Five was a solid action film with some great stunt scenes. Here's hoping 6 and 7 can up that quotient exponentially such that 7 is basically one long stunt.

These movies are my guilty pleasures. They are perfect Sunday afternoon hangover cures. Considering you drank yourself stupid the night before, the movies feel like masterpieces.

Only seen the first one, and it was pretty much the Point Break script, with cars taking the place of surfboards,
Are any of the sequels worth a look?

As long as you go in with the mindset that its a popcorn movie with very little substance but lots of action... hell yes. Tokyo drift was good and I really liked the third, great action movie.
