It's more likely that the monitor was broken during shipping, rather than this gentle, considerate toss over five feet of fence into the ground.

FedEx--when it absolutely HAS to be over the fence.

That's a very odd position for a surveillance camera to have just happened to be in.

Pocket Ninja: That's a very odd position for a surveillance camera to have just happened to be in.

Yeah, why would you want a camera looking at your front gate and the intercom system?

Pocket Ninja: That's a very odd position for a surveillance camera to have just happened to be in.

Why? It's right next to the gate shooting the area where someone would have to press a buzzer or doorbell.

The homeowner has a gate there, and apparently "buzzes" the gate open, which explains the camera. His complaint was that he was at home, and the tosser didn't even attempt to try the gate.

Well I guess you shouldn't have inconvenienced him.

Dancin_In_Anson: Isn't FedEx an at-will employer?

As a former FedEx cargo monkey.. yup.

And I saw worse than this at the facility where I worked -- although never anything as deliberately lazy. But we might have ... maybe... lost grip on something expensive and had it fall out of a plane. Onto to the tarmac. From about 15 feet up. Cough. ...Sorry about that.

I don't think any of the delivery companies actually wait for you to answer the door unless they need a signature.

Around here, they usually put package on step, ring doorbell and hightail it back to their truck.

Can't be any worse than Canada Post. Whenever they deliver a package, they leave it on the front door step. Doesn't matter if it's .99 cents or $9,000 they drop on the front porch and high tail it outta there. I've had a couple of packages disappear like that.

UPS in my area (St.Louis) always knock and wait a few seconds before leaving the package.

Well I'm sure Tom Hanks had a few choice words to say to that guy!

2011-12-21 10:19:57 AM
Here, UPS places the package, rings and leaves immediately. FedEx guy only approaches as closely as necessary and then throws the package. The only way I know a FedEx package has arrived is the wham of it hitting my door or siding. Once the package was in the bushes, probably rolled off the porch because i heard it hit the door.

In a thread about some douche throwing a tv you some how some way you were able to take a dig at unions, even though this had nothing to do with a unionized employee.

The UPS guy here rings and knocks and leaves the package then disappears like a ninja.

The FedEx guy leaves the package on the doorstep and a post-it note on the door without knocking.

I've taken to getting everything sent UPS to my office simply because the UPS guy always comes inside to deliver them.

A friend had that happen a week ago with a flat screen computer monitor.. The tard in the fed ex truck left it on the front porch in an apartment complex. I was there in the living room not even ten feet from the door. Luckily someone in the house (me) heard him pulling away.

Delivery drivers don't have time to wait and see if someone will come to the door. They have hundreds of packages to deliver and most people aren't home during the day. Want them to ring the bell and wait for you to answer the door then have your package shipped with signature required. I have everything shipped to my business, they are forced to come inside and drop off the package.

/They still treat the packages worse than I treat a rental car.
//UPS drivers make some serious money for what amounts to a menial task.

30-35 years ago or so ups would not leave a package at the door without a signature. you had to leave a signed note instructing them to leave the package. if they came 3 times and you weren't home you had to pick it up at their depot. they'd wait awhile after ring the bell because they didn't want to come back 2 more times looking for you.

From the Fedex twitter feed:

We have also reminded all of our FedEx team members that every single package is the most important one.

The recent video situation has been resolved to the customer's satisfaction. We are handling the employee according to our policies. 1/2

Such irresponsibility is contrary to the good reputation FedEx is known for worldwide. 4/4

We will not tolerate any irresponsible act that affects the quality of any item we deliver. 3/4

We take pride in the quality of service we provide to millions of customers daily.

We saw the video and quite frankly were shocked. This was careless treatment of a customer package by our courier and will be addressed. 1/4

Still no mention of "we fired this jaggof. No, literally! We put the lazy little sh*te into a giant clown cannon and fired him straight off of FedEx property and told to never come back."

I've had problems with both UPS and Fed Ex. Packages not being delivered even though it is shown as such, the computer tracking saying I wasn't home, even though I was and the package wasn't delivered. I had a UPS driver pull up to a major film studio and skip delivering the product for a commercial shoot because the main gate was being repaired and all trucks were being diverted to a different gate half way down the street. There was a big fat sign and a security guard at the gate directing trucks to it. Some supervisor got an earful from me that day since it could have held the shoot up. I had them arrange for someone to pick it up at their warehouse since "the driver had a schedule and couldn't come back to my location". They are all pretty lazy. The only delivery company I've had consistently delivery direct to door is DHL. But not a lot of companies use them / have an account with them.

Or in this guy's case, no wage temp workers.

Having been a non-union postal worker I can say for sure it wasn't the Union guys. It was all the "casuals" that they hire so that the work actually gets done. Union guys were on break.

Ehhh. If you're a jackhole with a gate, I really can't blame the FedEX driver making minimum wage and working shiatloads of mandatory overtime this holiday season. Keep your damn gate open.

This is America, not medieval Europe.

2011-12-21 11:31:00 PM
I'm pretty sure if I had a gate my FedEx guy would just leave it on the sidewalk outside the gate and sprint back to his truck. He never rings my doorbell or knocks, just drops it on the porch and runs. At least the UPS guy hides it behind the bush by the door.

Yea, I dunno any place that wouldn't have something of that size in a second box. Also fedex drivers of all people should be able to identify an intercom and its associated camera system, and he went right up to it. One hell of a slander video though.

If he's looking for a job, he'd fit in real well as a Delta baggage handler.

I watched a delivery guy drop a transmission I'd ordered online straight onto the sidewalk with a loud clang.

Nice.

Considered rejecting it, and should have, but took it because there was no visual way to say if it was broken.

Installed it, and sure enough it sounded like a circular saw. fark. Un-installed it, built a proper crate, and sent it back (the seller was way cool when he heard the sad tale). Next one was delivered crated, and is in my truck right now. Nice trans.

/Of course, I do not get compensated for the time and energy it took me to install a pranged trans in my truck, decide "yep, he broke it" , and remove it again.

//Couldn't believe that first driver.

I has USPS deliver a package a few days ago. Knocked on the door, handed it to me with no signature required, wished me a nice day, and left. I think it's because the package boxes in the communal mailbox were full. Even so, he didn't just toss it on the porch and run.

2011-12-22 04:50:06 PM
This is completely in line with my experiences with FedEx. Never a problem with UPS or USPS, but farking FedEx never gets shiat right.
