I saw the closing night of the Green Day Broadway show, "American Idiot" and Justin Guarini was one of the show's leads. Wasn't advertised or hyped like the 'star of the week' in the Grease or Chicago performances, he was just in the cast. Thought he was good.

Good on him.

Plus, he doesn't heel it down the drain....

I never got that condescending argument. American Idol contestants are backed by live bands. How is that karaoke?
And how is karaoke not singing? Last I checked, people still moved their vocal chords in a rhythmic pattern for both activities.
