For me, the top news story should be:

Press still a bunch of pussies, selling any shred of objectivity down the river for fear of ever being called 'biased'.

Now what will they use to make the kids behave?

It's easy to get away when the village idiot elected to be your countries president-twice! decides that OBL is no longer important, and that revenge for Daddy was far more important. So, off to Iraq we went.
5,000 US kids died for GW and his crew in Iraq. And OBL laughed. The world laughed. Then a new President was elected. One with with a 3-digit IQ, no "revenging" on his agenda. Only the hunting and killing of OBL. Lessons learned? Some retards should NOT be elected. Keep them at home, clearing brush.

2011-12-21 12:28:52 PM
He "didn't keep getting away". He was never a real target for the Bush administration. They needed a boogeyman to point at to maintain their stance on how terrifying and imminent that next 9/11 was going to be. George Bush was Bin Ladin's best security, and Bin Ladin was Bush's best hole card.

Without 9/11, Bush would never have seen a second term. 9/11 was the best thing to ever happen to the Bush administration and the GOP.

2011-12-21 12:34:18 PM
Well once we had a president who actually wanted to get him instead of one who was buddies with his family, it got a lot easier.

I remember seeing that he was killed, shrugging and walking off.
I refused to get all excited about the death of some guy. Same with Saddam. It makes us look bad to be all happy about killing someone. Even if they deserved it.

Smartest thing to do, when you are up against a much more technologically superior foe, is to completely eschew modern communications. ObL was smart enough to do that. It levels the playing field somewhat. NSA can't find you if you aren't using electronics to communicate.

The problem is, the GOP blames Obama for that, and they don't support them in the slightest.

It's a little more complicated than that. If a new government in the middle east fully supports U.S. interests, then it's proof that the Bush Doctrine worked to bring democracy to the middle east. If a new government is even slightly out of step with U.S. interests, it's Obama's fault for letting Islamic radicals seize power (and it doesn't matter if the new rulers are Islamic radicals or not).

Y'know... I'm a little suprised, but #6 "PENN STATE SEX ABUSE SCANDAL", is a story I actually know ABSOLUTELY nothing about. I presume it involves sex and scandal, and happened in Penn State.

Don't see how it's a bigger deal than Ghadaffi in Libya, OWS, or that AAA rating decline that was lamented for weeks in advance and then after.

Then again, perhaps I should be surprised that lady who got hit by a plane propeller didn't even get an honorable mention - since she was all you could seemingly see on NBC morning news.

And don't keep the same courier(s) for 10 years. As soon as he knew that his courier(s) might have been compromised by the capture of people who knew their names, he should have either killed them or paid them off to disappear and cut all ties with the organization, and then gotten new ones from a pool of people that he knew were reliable Al Qaeda members, but not ones that were necessarily known to those who were captured.

Periodically, say every few years, you'd get a new courier whether you think you need one or not, just to stay a step ahead of the game.

In any case, you absolutely don't use any modern communications. No emails. No phones (cell, satellite, or landline). I suppose using a computer to generate communications is OK, so long as it is never, *EVER* connected to an outside network, and it doesn't have a wireless card in it. You'd have to transfer the documents, pictures, and videos by physical media such as a thumb drive, via courier.

If you are truly paranoid, you encrypt using a one time pad system. You can generate cryptologically secure numeric pads by rolling 10-sided and typing the results. It takes a while, but if you put someone to work doing that for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, you can generate a *LOT* of pads pretty quickly.

As an experiment, I just timed myself generating the following 'pad' using 5 10-sided dice on a manual typewriter:

35700 82572 97894 02815 51716
86293 01627 87984 48867 16070
62249 35321 27436 71129 16311
06121 12798 02054 63366 83353
51381 34485 62650 36372 51359

It took me 4 minutes, 23 seconds, and that was struggling with a cantankerous typewriter (carriage doesn't always lock). I'm sure that with practice, I could do it well under 4 minutes, but since it would also have to include cutting them out and preparing them, let's keep it at 4 minutes.

In 8 hours, you could do 120 of them. Over a 6 day week you could generate 960 pad pages that size. Each page has 125 numbers, enough to encrypt a message in English of roughly 100 letters. For a weeks worth of keys, you could send 96,000 letters, or roughly 19,200 words. To put it in modern context, that's about 685 full-length tweets.
