I notice the article doesn't mention its top speed. AND, I kinda doubt this overpowered go-cart has the cooling systems/stability to go completely around the VW test track without burning up the drivetrain. I'll take the Veyron. plz....

It's supposed to do 275, and it will definitely go around the 'ring.

/I'll try to find verification of the top speed....

Looks like it's there own specs, but based on all the raw numbers, it sounds plausible:

Are they comparing a 5k pound luxury car with a/c, radio, heated seats etc to a 2k pound purpose built bare bones speed machine?

I'll take the Veyron.

Actually they have comparable amenities. It's just that the Venom is faster, better handling, less expensive, and less pretentious than the Veyron.

LOL it does 68mph in first gear. Wow that is one impressive car.

Google "John Hennessey lawsuits" to get an idea of the guy behind the Venom. Multiple lawsuits for ripping people off and issues with shoddy workmanship and missing parts. As much as I'd like to drool over the car, I just can't glorify this type of asshole.

The Venom seems quite loud compared to the Veyron from the in car video and audio...I;m guessing they are not similiarly sound dampered and from the looks of the in car footage...definately not simialrly amenitized.

But how pretentious do you have to be to try to build something that would out perform a Veyron?

Came here to see this, leaving satisfied. The guy is a jerk and a theif and he has managed to get away with it to some extent.

The lawsuit stuff is a good read too.

What kind of car is that - Is it the new Corvette?

2011-12-21 02:45:33 PM
Nope, not a new Corvette, that would be the old and heavily modified and stretched Lotus Elise

Tony Hawk's SRT8 is pretty sweet. Hennessey can really put a car together.

The venom GT isn't in the same league as the bugatti - the bugatti isn't actually a racer, like the venom - it's a super-luxury cruiser - the top speed is simply a party-piece.

This needs to be compared against other racers like the lambourghini aventador etc (which certainly beats it in the looks department)

Another vote for the Bugatti here. I just have the feeling that the prestige project of one of the biggest car companies in the world is better engineered and more durable than a racer of some guy who builds just ten cars per year.

The Veyron may no longer be the king of the hill, but if there's one thing it's earned the right not to be called, it's pretentious. It does exactly what it purports to do.

That is a dangerous assumption.
