In other news, they made the right choice by bringing back "The Life and Times of Tim" for a third season after they had made an early decision to cancel it.

/"How to Make It in America" sucked donkey balls.

2011-12-20 05:02:55 PM
Bored to Death was good. I guess we should have seen it coming when Ted Danson jumped ship to crap network programming.

Keeping "Enlightened" is a bad decision. The writer nailed it when he said "the most unpleasant show to watch on tv".

"Bored to Death" was like "Entourage" in that it was sometimes an entertaining 30min. "How to make it in America" never made it that far.

2011-12-20 05:31:18 PM
I never really got into Hung. I didn't find it realistic enough. Women do not go apeshiat over a giant penis and the ones that do -you don't want (Picture the Grand Canyon -filled with disease)

I liked Bored to Death as anyone would like a stoned Sam Malone.

2011-12-20 05:35:57 PM
I watched that How to Make it show a couple times, I couldn't figure out what the hell it was supposed to be about. It wasn't funny, it wasn't a drama, it was just there.

Lake Bell's tits, on the other hand, were fantastic.

Well, shiat. We enjoyed Hung at Chez D_I_A.

Bored to Death was good, but it's also had a good enough run by now.

How to Make it in America took the absolute worst elements of Entourage and fused them with the most annoying parts of Sex and the City. Which I didn't think was even really possible since those two shows were basically the same damn thing. But it was an abomination, and I'm glad it's gone.

Hung was a good, funny show, with the only problem being that listening to Tonya made me want to kill things. Which I guess means she was really good at playing the part of a hyper-nervous, twitchy, anti-social weirdo, but I basically stopped watching it because I couldn't stand her.

I really hated Ray's kids.

/Kept hoping they'd somehow end up in Lake Michigan with cement shoes.

Bored to Death was all right, but it didn't have enough to keep me hooked. After the first season, whenever I watched it I got bored. So I guess it succeeded in living up to its name.

HBO - Give more money to Game of Thrones and the Gunslinger/Dark Tower project. That is all!

I really liked Thomas Jane in The Punisher and The Mist, but I couldn't get into Hung at all.

2011-12-20 07:37:17 PM
Didn't watch any of em except some of the first season of Hung. Oh well go Game of Thrones and True Blood.

2011-12-20 07:38:49 PM
Enjoyed Bored to Death, but it was clear the writers had no idea what to do with the story.

How to Make It in America always entertained me and you could count on a really nice set of boobs getting flashed in almost every episode. That's all I ask, really.

That's just Entourage2 since Entourage was nothing but Sex and the City with a couple extra penises.

Sounds like that's what they're doing. Game of Thrones and Boardwalk are popular, but expensive. Cut the dead weight to avoid giving these shows the Deadwood treatment.

The WNBA player was awesome.

I liked Bored to Death, but it had a solid three seasons and doesn't bother me that it's gone. Two seasons wouldn't have been enough, four probably would have been too many, so I think is a rare case of a show ending exactly when it needed to.

And as such, How to Make it in America did all it was required to do.

FTA: "I'd elaborate on the many reasons "Bored to Death" kind of blew, but it tends to bring out a very vocal, very self-righteous Jason Schwartzman fan base which, like Joe Rogan's following, is something you don't even know exists until you bad mouth something with which they're involved."

this is some chuckle-worthy snark.

I am totally fine w/HBO cancelling 3 bad shows and either redistributing to their other good shows, or creating another good show.

like Joe Rogan's following

woah, hold on there, Joe Rogan has a following?

Hey, HBO's gotta fund the Battle of Blackwater somehow.

Aww. But I love "Bored To Death." It was amusingly pretentious and endearingly hipsteresque.

The only good thing about Hung was the female guest stars that got naked.

If I understand the premise of the show correctly, he's a male prostitute. They pay him, not the other way around. They do this presumably because he does not want them for free.

There's a Lake I could take a dip in.

Also, she's pretty funny in Children's Hospital.

It's like you're in my head. It takes talent to make me want to put my foot through my television. See Forest Whitaker's character on The Shield. I farking hated that character to the point where I almost stopped watching the show. Brilliant actor.

I predict that unless something good happens "Boardwalk Empire" won't make it past a third season. It seems to be meandering in a fog of "Single-Dad Dick Tracy guy having a bigger stick up his ass", "Half blown-off face guy mutters a few monosyllabic words", and "Nucky's Mistress talks a lot with an Irish accent".

2011-12-20 09:58:13 PM
I'll miss Hung. Started watching because it was filmed in and around Detroit, and it was actually a pretty entertaining show. Also, lots of great nudity, which is nice.

That being said, if HBO wants to direct more resources into things like Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones and True Blood .... more power to 'em.

They have to do something big next season. I agree. Otherwise it will grow dull.

Agreed. I stopped watching about halfway through this season. I just don't care what happens to the characters. GoT on the other hand is awesome.

I liked all 3 but won't really miss any of them. I do want to know what happened to Lenore though.

The should cancel Game of Thrones now before it gets to Feast for Crows, or even worse, A Dance for Dragons.

The producers could seriously wrap the plot for both of those books in two episodes.
