Nah. I heard him too.

Egoy3k: You nerds need to be happy with what you get just once in your miserable comic book guy worst. Life. Ever. Not everything is a competition to show how much more sophisticated and intelligent you are but being 'above' the things other people like.

They made a bloody movie about a guy who dresses up as a bat and beats the crap out of equally unlikely characters and yet some people like to point out that the characters aren't well developed? If they were well developed they wouldn't be dressing up in costumes and fighting in the first place because NOBODY DOES THAT.

Christ just take it and buy tickets before they make a Hangover part 3!

Why don't they make movies like 'Tom goes shopping' or 'Sally drives to work'? I would totally pay $15 to see a totally believable movie about totally real stuff.

MasterYong: BRILLIANT marketing stunt. Circulate articles that claim no one can understand one of the lead characters in a major hollywood blockbuster... then include a trailer in the articles.

farking BRILLIANT.

I didn't realize it until I was done watching the trailer thinking "I can understand Bane just fine..." They just got me. I watched the trailer because they tricked me into it (I didn't want to see any part of the movie until I came out)

That is an odd stipulation, but as a Batman fanboy I understand coming out to your parents before the third installment. We are all here for you!

Exactly, it's a joke within the movie. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a big difference between a menacing villain and comedic relief.

Nolantards are strong in this thread.

I understood perfectly. However, I also understood perfectly well that something 'bad' was going to happen at the stadium. They didn't need to show me the payoff on my tiny little computer screen. I would have been quite happy seeing it in the theatre. Thanks for nothing, previews. Why not just show me the fifth act as well.

Funny thing about that movie: Brad Pitt was making up random gibberish for a lot of the scenes. If you have captions on they actually give up at some points and just throw up a "??????????" The DVD has a setting for "Pikey Subtitles" and they give up a lot.

I saw it last month for the third or fourth time... I was pretty surprised how much I understood.

The irony of this is that they're only showing the prologue in super special IMAX theaters in an effort to make sure people only see it in its proper environment... with the downside being that this means that many fans' first exposure to the prologue is either through shakycam bootlegs or a pure text transcription. It's all of the spoilage, none of the "wow."

I'll be the first to admit, when I heard Heath Ledger was going to play Joker I thought the movie was going to suck, and Joker would be fail. I was wrong, oh so very very wrong. So as I was walking out of the theater with some fellow nerd friends of mine we all agreed that no matter who he cast for the third movie, and no matter how stupid any trailers or anything looked, we would give Nolan the benefit of the doubt this time and trust his judgment.

I have no problems with anything I've seen so far anyway, so I'm confident that it's going to be a great movie. The Nolan brothers really know what they are doing. Few people are actually complaining, and that's par for the course on the internet where no matter how awesome something is SOMEONE is going to be a little biatch about it.

Oh, and as for Hangover 3? Too late.

metametameta: Smiths: Not trolling here but am I the only one who was bored by Dark Knight? Just went too long and could have easily have had an hour chopped off of it.

I enjoyed the first one more; Batman Begins was a great fresh start and all.

Something about The Dark Knight just annoyed me and bored me.

Yeah, I couldn't stand The Dark Knight. It took itself so seriously, but then it reduced everyone, including Batman, into complete imbeciles in order to make the Joker's plans actually work. I could see if the dude were planting tiny c-4 bombs in the shape of dolls or something, but he was planting tons of ginormous barrels that look like the toxic barrels from Doom in public places that have choked access points and are regularly checked, and that's only the beginning of it.

it's not really the "unbelievability" of it that gets me. It's just so long with extra crap that should have been on the cutting room floor.

the entire china sequence, which seemed to only have the purpose of introducing the "cell phone = cameras everywhere" concept... and other sequences that just added 10 minutes here, 5 minutes there, totally an extra hour.

It's not an attention span thing; it just felt like the editor took a day off

I enjoyed it as well. My issue is that internet 'nerds' really should be happy that mainstream culture even throws them a sop every so often let alone a well produced big budget movie. I actually couldn't understand him that well. But I didn't have the sound very loud either. I know what you're getting at, the folks who are overly critical and make mountains out of molehills when we should all be glad that Hollywood finally discovered that as a demographic we nerds have money too. I totally agree.

That said, that doesn't mean we shouldn't criticize when it's appropriate. To use your example, I liked the Star Trek reboot a lot. I found it a lot of fun, and a respectful reintroduction of those beloved characters...... but the plot had holes in it the size of a solar system. If you're realistic about it, it's understandable because they were essentially doing an origin story and had a lot of ground to cover - and they got the important stuff right.

But that doesn't mean an equally sloppy plot for the sequel should be acceptable and that we should just be happy Hollywood threw us a bone and STFU and eat it even if it tastes like stank. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Also, it would be nice if he could dial back the lens flare just a skoach. ;)

:D

I am the ton percent.
The thing I don't get about people like cameron popping up in these threads to claim it looks "meh" or "sh*tty" or plain bad is that they claim the movies are sh*tty. Even if comic book movies or these Batman movies are not your cup of tea, Nolan did right by the first two films. If that makes me a Nolantard, then herpa derp hork.

Haters, see rubber bat nipples, and go see Batman Begins again and tell me you Nolan did a sh*tty job. Still do? Well this here ton of nerd is still going to go see Rises, probably love it, and most certainly ejaculate copiously at the hotness that is Bane.

If they dropped the BSery Russian/Ukraine type accent he has and give him the South American accent he has in the comics it'd go a lot smoother. Then again, the problem with his accent could be the fact he's constantly inhaling pain medication through the mask, and that's bound to screw with anyone's speech. Too bad he can't be like he is in the comics: 8 feet tall and built like a monster truck. I miss the lucha libre mask too. At least the trailer and prologue made it look less dominatrix. It'll come together. Nolan is a perfectionist. At least he isn't saying: "riddle me this, riddle me that, whachya gonna do brother when I break the bat. Oohhhh yeeeeeeeeyuh, DIG IT"

Well, we're 200 comments in so we can probably go ahead and judge your attempt. Not great, I'm afraid. You went for the (extremely) easy score and came up well short. You're just going to have to step your game up and take a bigger risk next time if you really want the bites. Recycling old material only works for so long, you know?
