I also heard him fairly clearly, and this is coming from somebody who really does have a tough time understanding people sometimes.

2011-12-20 12:51:25 PM
Muffled, sure. Critical? Meh. Just have him do his lines again and dub it back in, no?

Well, they do have 5 or so months to fix it.

if they're going to push 3D on every movie, even though it makes a significant portion of the population physically ill, then i don't see why this is such a big freaking deal

All I see is Batman vs Rammstein...it looks silly.

But if it is a problem they will remix or rerecord the dialogue. Nolan's explaination about 'not wanting to dumb it down' is nonsensical...no one is asking to change the dialogue, just to make it understandable and less muffled. Is part of Kane's persona that he is a muffled unintelligable character? If so, then keep it, if not, then change it. This is BatmanThe Rising...not high fooking art.

And get Kevin Conroy to come in and dub Christian Bale while they're at it too, please. I cannot stand Christian Bale's Batman voice.

/Bane was a little muffled, but a dub over really would solve that pretty easily

I would like to direct this to the distinguished members of the panel: You lousy cork-soakers. You have violated my farging rights. Dis somanumbatching country was founded so that the liberties of common patriotic citizens like me could not be taken away by a bunch of fargin iceholes... like yourselves.

WTF was that chanting I heard?

I can't wait for some shiatty batman to bain dialogue.

Batman: grmf frmfph hrtpsh
Bain: frthtgh grthh krpfff
Batman: frtghhaa hrggg grrfffff
Bain: no. u.

Not hearing the problem, it's plenty clear.

Hey, your little seen arthouse flick about the troubles of a divorce, bisexual prostitue and her nymphomaniac mother, drug adled father finding the long lost son she gave up for adoption, who lost a foot in a tragic boating accident, all while finding love with a widowed zookeeper with a bacon grease fetish comes out the same week, so maybe you go enjoy that while we enjoy our movie.

2011-12-20 12:56:03 PM
That wasn't too hard to understand.

Still, what's impressing me most about this movie is the fact that this is it. They aren't going for an open-ended franchise like the earlier film series. This is to be a trilogy and done. Assuming they can still to their promise.

/BtAS is still the best Batman

Hell, could people understand Batman in the last movie? I thought he had laryngitis

Not nearly as hard to understand as Hines Ward suddenly becoming Usain Bolt

I find it completely ridiculous. There's no reason to sound that way.

Mumbled dialogue is as big of a problem in Hollywood these days as lens flare, shaky-cam, reboots, and bad scripts.

2/10

Recycling bait doesn't work as much anymore.

Now had you gone with a "Dark Knight was this generation's Citizen Kane" argument on the other hand.

There probably won't be trailer music playing over that scene in the full movie. It should be easier to hear.

Crap. Someone already thought of that idea? I thought my screenplay was one of a kind! DAMMIT!!!

When Gotham is in ashes, you have my permission to die.

I've got a lot of background noise in here, was barely listening, and I could still make that out.

It's called ADR and it's fairly common in the film industry though some actors refuse to do it because they aren't able to deliver their lines in a recording studio in the same way they can on set. Some even have clauses in their contracts that they won't do it.

/Automatic Dialog Replacement
//nothing automatic about it

I heard him fine as well. Heard of Bane before but didn't know about the "constantly inhaled drug" thing.
Farking stupid. Why doesn't everyone use it? Why not take his mask off and kick him in the nuts? Where does he get refills?

Agreed. Pretty sure I didn't catch a single line of dialogue from Batman in the last film. Also, I don't think I'm supposed to laugh when Batman speaks.

2011-12-20 01:03:30 PM
Reminded me of Roger Waters bleating at the beginning of Waiting For The Worms. Other people claim that the only reason you can't understand him is because the background noise of the airplane coming apart, but I couldn't "easily" understand his one sentence from the trailer either. I say keep it as it is and add subtitles. Otherwise, pray that he's not going to be giving any exposition speeches.

No.

I had a hard time understanding his first line and one of his later lines from the prologue bootleg, but I was simply unprepared for his first line since he was out of frame when he started to speak (plus it was a bootleg). I have no problem understanding him in the trailer so I'm not sure what the problem is. His accent and inflection is definitely odd but I like it. Remixed voice or not, I'll just have to pay closer attention when I see this movie in the theater. Not a big deal.

Not trolling here but am I the only one who was bored by Dark Knight? Just went too long and could have easily have had an hour chopped off of it.

I enjoyed the first one more; Batman Begins was a great fresh start and all.

Something about The Dark Knight just annoyed me and bored me.
