I guess this means that Paul is officially the new frontrunner, now that the media has decided to destroy yet another candidate.

RON PAUL doesn't hate Jews, he's just the only one brave enough to point out that Jews aren't in the Constitution.

Dr. Paul

Can we please stop calling him that?

Know what else he didn't write? The Bible. I have proof.

Sullivan said "Polls show that only about 5 percent of people with dark-colored skin support the free market, a laissez faire economy, an end to welfare and to affirmative action,"

tha HORROR.

Yes, it is awful when the media reports on a candidates own words. Why do they insist on reprinting what the candidates actually say?

Lost Thought 00: now that the media has decided to destroy yet another candidate

yeah, it's all the media's fault that they are reporting stuff these candidates did.

Ron Paul is one of our cherished defenders against tyranny by the federal government. Oddly, he's also one of the biggest proponents of tyranny by state government.

Honestly, it's a shame they have to bother. There are few things on earth that irk me more than finding out that someone who is ostensibly a normal, sensible person supports Ron Paul.

I have to assume that they just... haven't actually researched him in any real way.

I like Ron Paul on a number of issues, even though he's too much a federalist libertarian rather than a civil libertarian for my taste (civil libertarian: "the government has no business jailing you for being a homosexual." Federalist libertarian: "the federal government has no business jailing you for being a homosexual. That's the job of the states.").

But this issue is devastating for him, I think. Much of being the President is picking the right people and supervising them adequately. Under the most generous interpretation of the newsletter incident, Paul picked nutjobs to write under his name without conducting due diligence, then failed to supervise them. That doesn't inspire confidence in his executive abilities.

Or they actually believe that sh*t, that the states should have the "right" to discriminate against skin color, a woman's right to choose an abortion, homosexuals, etc...

The MediaTM doesn't have time to destroy any of them before they implode themselves. Mercury has a longer half-life than any of those clowns. I'm pretty sure the GOP is just using 2012 as a chance to purge their undesirables. It has yet to be seen if the undesirables are the lunatic religious fringe or the responsible grown ups.

I wasn't aware that Ron Paul wanted to abolish the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 19th amendments.

I would have thought introducing legislation that unconstitutionally tries to overturn the 14th Amendment would have been devastating to someone who caters to the Constitutionalists. Shame.

I voted for RON PAUL in the 2008 Michigan GOP Primary because the MDP dun goofed and invalidated the Dem primary. Considering voting for him again here in VA.

whidbey: Can we please stop calling him that?

Why?

After earning a Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University's School of Medicine in 1961, Paul completed his medical internship at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He then served as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1965 and then in the United States Air National Guard from 1965 to 1968.

Sounds like a doctor to me. A doctor who served his country.

Ahh yes...

Because only the status quo needs a 'nice guy', rather than someone who's got a voting record against needless wars, the patriot act, sound money, and an end to the drug war.

There's a RON PAUL thread on the Politics page? That's impossible! The politics page is only for the candidate who is leading the polls in Iowa!

[checks polls]

Wow, RON PAUL is leading "anybody who isn't Romney" polls in Iowa right now, and Rush Limbaugh is talking about Jeb Bush as the great white hope of the Republican Party this year. That's just amazingly stupid. I'd almost feel sorry for the Republicans, but I find myself laughing too hard.

You know what? Let every one of the idiot Paulites vote for him. But first, they need to take a look at everything Paul talks about, not just the bits they like. They need to look at all of it and ask themselves, if enacted would things honestly be better. Honestly. If they still want to vote for him then fark them. They get what they deserve.

/Ron Paul is to liberty what Paul was to Christianity.

And what is so bad about being against a giant federal bureaucracy?

I'm sorry, but DECENTRALIZED systems ALWAYS work better than top-down.

One thing is probably most GOP voters don't make much of his past racists statements and seem to look the other way about him making them and lying about them, but if he was to get the nomination this will sink him.

Exactly. Because somehow denying civil rights is TOTALLY OK as long as it's state governments and not the federal government doing it. Because that's exactly what this country was founded on.

Sigh.
