Sadly, not as many EPL fans will be here with three of the four teams playing today at the bottom of the table.

Surely, Bolton/Blackburn today will help decide which manager will be sacked next.

The draws against Swansea City and Norwich were painful. A draw against Wigan is unthinkable.

LET'S GO REDS!

I hope Stoke beats the absolute hell out of Man City. Not necessarily on the scoreboard, just in general, on the scoreboard would be nice too though.

Kean and Venky's need to go f themselves. Didn't I see a story that when Venky's bought Blackburn they didn't know that there was relegation in the EPL? LOL. So IOW they fired Alardyce because he cost too much, bought Kean in b/c he was cheap, and thought they could skate being bottom of the table.

Stupid idiots.

Same here for today and Thursday. But I'll be here for tomorrow's matches.

BTW, for all of the inevitable questions about streams; if you can access ESPN3, the following EPL matches will be available there.

Today- Blackburn v Bolton
Wednesday- Aston Villa v Arsenal, Wigan v Liverpool, Everton v Swansea
Thursday- Tottenham v Chelsea (also on ESPN2 for those who may have the day off)

They hired Kean because he was a puppet who wouldn't rock the boat. He'll do whatever they say and they love that. Allardyce, while playing football that was at times unwatchable, got results and had his own methods of going about things that Venky's didn't like. They wanted a hollow shell of a man with absolutely no brain that they could work like a marionette. For Rovers fans, it's infuriating.

That is sad, as the battle to avoid relegation is often as interesting as the ones at the top of the table...or in the case of last season, significantly more interesting.

Sadly, it might have to take the club being relegated in order to get Venky's out. And, of course, we wait until the EPL bends over to another moron who flashes cash in order to get control of a club. Then, we're back to this crap again.

If you think that was down to SAF - who would actually want Rooney to rest up instead of play in the Euros - then it shows how toothless the FA really are.

2011-12-20 03:36:35 PM
The 8-game suspension will be dropped to 4 or 5 games on appeal based upon "language barriers."

I'm extremely anxious to hear the outcome of the Terry case to see if an England international gets a different sentence. I'm already skeptical of the FA, so I'm expecting different outcomes.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

so will they charge evra with racial abuse for saying "Don't touch me, you South American"? or does that not count as referring to "ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race"?

/no, of course not, don't be silly.

sephjnr: If you think that was down to SAF

no, i don't think it was down to saf. the point is, the exchange that allegedly occurred (let's assume for the sake of argument that it did) started with evra making a comment about suarez's ethnic background. right in front of a ref. so suarez responds, and he's the only one who is charged. right. makes perfect sense.

2011-12-20 03:45:22 PM
The BBC commentators seem to be searching for the words to adequately describe the poor level of play at Ewood Park.

Let's assume nothing. You've ducked the Rooney point completely and made a statement on hearsay that wasn't used as evidence. Suarez was found guilty as - at best, if what you say is true - he rose to the bait. If he was the role model he was supposed to have been, he would have said nothing and made a race complaint himself - if not to the referee right there, at the end of the game.

TheMatchHare: The BBC commentators seem to be searching for the words to adequately describe the poor level of play at Ewood Park.

Owen Coyle's gameplan:

1. Wait until Blackburn fark up.
2. Score.
3. Sit on the ball.
4. Go back to 1.

Between French and Uruguayan Spanish, I imagine a jibe got misinterpreted. Either way, 8 games is ludicrous, but I'll swallow it as long as John Terry gets hit with the same punishment.

2011-12-20 03:54:10 PM
Liverpool has put out a very strong statement against the punishment and effective laid out their case for an appeal, including noting that Evra and the FA both said that Saurez is NOT a racist.

Also of note- it is being said that the suspension is delayed at least 14 days in order for LFC or Saurez to decide to appeal or not. So he should be available for tomorrow's match at Wigan.
