There's a whole load of folks in Europe who have tried naturism and like it.

Many of them are willing to spend a bit more on a decent destination, they tend not to be desperate for the last cent of value. They are also stumped for places to go to.

Fuerteventura in the Canaries is very naturist-friendly and has bucked the tourist slump of recent years. I own a holiday rental house there and at least half of all enquiries specifically ask about naturism (as in is the place overlooked etc).

IMHO, if a resort sees it as a possibility there's a lot of trade to be had.

I was on a museum ship once and a father from Quebec was yelling at his kid to come up from below decks. The kid finally complied after a few minutes, just as I composed the simple sentence "Listen to your father" in French in my head. I spent 3 years at Lajes Field, The Azores, Portugal. As it's an island out in the middle of the Atlantic, you can imagine that much of my time spent there was swimming. And during that time, I observed 2 things:

1. For every diamond, there was A LOT of rough.
2. The rough had no problems wearing little (or nothing).

European does not equal hot.

2 very good points highlighted. per TFA, part of the appeal they'll be selling to the european travelers is that you have naturism AND theme parks

and naturism has far more to do with body acceptance than it does appearance...it's one of the things stressed most in the naturism community, accepting people for who they are, not for what they look like

So many people here thinking the few ugly ones represent the entire nationality.

When I was in Spain, the locals knew when they had aged out and stopped going topless, however the British and the Northern Europeans really didn't care and would shed their clothing because they were just overjoyed to be in a warm sunny place. Fat, pasty, middle aged Dutch women really aren't my thing.

suckerpunch: As a resident of Pasco County, I can tell you the nudists here are not people you want to see naked. They're very easy to pick out in the clothed world. The women usually wear a terry cloth pull up looking thing, sans the bra that they need desperately.

i don't care how good or bad a woman looks, that terry cloth tube top is hideous! and, something i thought they completely stopped making sometime around 1992
