Too soft and feminine? Kim Jong Il was like Margaret Cho without the dick and balls.

Hates drugs, Hates Nukes, Hates God, Hates Unemployed, Hates War, Thinks Claude van Damme can destroy terrorists.

Talk about opposing diametric.

I would even destroy the word "DRUG" to make people forget about it.

Hm, It's hard to tell--either he hasn't read Nineteen Eighty-Four, or he considers it a manual.

His hatred of God made me think he was a Farker, but his hatred of drugs killed that idea for me.

Wow. Nice poem. More like Kim Jong Mo.

Yeah, I did NOT figure that one out until reading something online the next day...

Good times.

Sounds to me like he's just as authoritarian, but wants to nanny people to death instead.

Fark him and his whole tribe.

I have to say, his English is better than most Farker's. I think some pop band could use the stream-of-consciousness 'poem' as song lyrics.

His admiration of Van Damme is kinda ghey tho.

Oh, and he looks fat.

2011-12-19 11:39:15 PM
He has no knack for writing poetry, unless that was just a really, really bad translation.

devildog123: His hatred of God made me think he was a Farker, but his hatred of drugs killed that idea for me.

There's drugs in the sense of pot or opiates. Neither of which are probably obtainable in the DPRK.

Then there's shiat-from-under-the-sink horror-meth. Which (at least according to some sources) the Norks have been making a lot of for export over the last decade and a whole bunch are using in the country. I could see the hate if 'drugs' almost exclusively meant tweakers.

But, yeah. Heir to North Korea. Or a trip to Disneyland Japan. I think he made the right choice.

Seriously, you religious people need to get off this persecution thing. Hatred of God is some other religion, why would he hate something that he's sure doesn't exist?

The poetry is abominable, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that, in the original language, it is as mellifluous as the bittersweet call of the Korean crested shelduck. Unfortunately, I don't know what that sounds like either because it's extinct. I guess mass starvation will lead one to eating all the shelduck one can rustle up...

Sure. Insult the one kid in the world with access to nuclear weapons and a family history of insanity. That couldn't end badly at all.

Yes, it's like saying that when you finally have to fess up to your kid that there is no Santa Claus that you are hating on Santa.

His poetry highlights how some people have the concept of "freedom" so warped in their mind. I've met a few pro-CCP Chinese who seem to have a similar worldview. "Freedom" doesn't mean what we think it means in the West. "Freedom" as they used it referred to being alive and being "well". The idea that you could have the freedom to do bad things to yourself or make bad decisions was crazy. It was from a Xinhua loving fool that I picked up the term "democrazy" back in the 90s.

"Human rights start with breakfast."

The idea of individual liberties is somewhat abstract when you have nothing but dust to eat. You can't enjoy the most basic civic liberty, that of free thought, if you don't have minimal physical security first.

Clearly he hasn't entirely escaped his family's penchant for totalitarian rule unscathed, but still, he'd be preferable to his siblings as the new leader of North Korea...

Have you ever discussed the concepts of positive of negative liberty? Isaiah Berlin's Two Concepts of Liberty might be a good read and starting point. We can look at freedom as being positive or negative. Negative liberty would be freedom from something, such as restraints on action enforced by the government and positive liberty being the freedom to do something, like the ability to pursue your dreams(such as having the ability to become a doctor if that's what you want to do with your life) In other words, the ability to pursue what society deems as "good". There is a tension between the two, and if a society gravitates too far in either direction, bad things result. If we go too far toward negative liberty, then it becomes a sort of anarchy, and there is no restraint on people harming others, which ends up destroying their liberties, and if we go too far towards the positive liberty side, we end up with totalitarianism, as the definition of good becomes too narrow for most people.

A lot of people take the stance that people should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't harm others, but even that requires a definition of what is "good" to determine what harms others. A lot of people from strongly nationalistic countries(China and the US would fit the bill here) have a strong notion of how good should be defined and end up looking crazy to others.
