Sybarite: What could possibly appear suspicious about sending beans through the mail?

Everyone knows that beans from PR are filled with drugs.
How did they know that he intended to sell it that close to the school? Speculation? Some of the charges that are dropped on people are just crazy.

The same way a drug dealer who just happens to drive past a school a little too fast through the school zone. He probably didn't even know there was a school there, he was just driving from one side of town to the other. Maybe the guy never sold to anybody under the age of 30 in his life. But there he is getting pulled over, realizing that he has drugs in the car and there's a school. He gets nervous, the cop gets suspicious and bam, he's busted for carrying drugs with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school.

In this case, the drugs were to be delivered to an address within the school circle, therefore it's a simple proximity issue.

I immediately thought Ricin.

Geez... won't somebody think of the children? I mean, they have to walk more than 1500 feet to get their drugs. That totes blows.

Shouldn't that be "You CAN bet your beans they can?"

/or even you can bet your can they can

wonder if he'll try to get one of his friends to get him drugs into prison. I hear they smuggle drugs in their cans for that, too.

Didn't his supplier tell him to wait 48 hours before opening the package? Plausible deniability, people...come on!

Sybarite: What could possibly appear suspicious about sending beans through the mail?

Not much. I've mailed canned goods before -- for example, a regional brand of clam chowder that a good friend now living on the other coast grew up with and missed.

My question: if it had actually been beans, would they have replaced the destroyed property? Or is a search warrant a license to vandalize?

The cocaine had been compressed into large chunks, warpped in plastic and covered with petroleum jelly, police said.

DE-licious!

From what I read they can blow your door in, shoot your dogs and grandma, rip the walls open and generally terrorize you and your family, and even if they find absolutely nothing they can tell you to fark off for any damages.

A warrant is license to vandalize, steal, kill your pets, bill you for the cost, and place the blame you for their mistakes, when they find out you are innocent.

these were Canned Beans. In a metal can? Or were they beans that had been "canned in the Home Canning Process" type of glass jars?

cause I wanna know who's got the X-Ray Specs that actually work -

I'm thinking someone rolled on him if it's in (a) metal can(s)

And if it IS in glass jars, how'd he get 'em shipped from ANYWHERE to there without them breaking 'cause I can't get a SWEATER shipped with out it being broken.

practical knowledge yo

Yep. You stick it on the counter, perhaps with a note saying 'Call sender about misshipped package' or 'Didn't order'.
