This. There's at least a dozen on the list that fall into the "i don't think you understand what 'cult film' means" list. My personal favorite "WTF is this doing on this list" one is the Star Wars saga. Not the 1977 film mind you, the SAGA. Oh, and The Wizard of Oz and It's a Wonderful Life are on the list too.

That being said, the blank in the headline, by this list's line of logic, is Office Space. By a farking mile of red Swingline staplers.

Okay, you know what, over half this list seems to be mainstream and popular films. Where's the cult films? Where's UHF? Where's Head? Where's Cannibal: The Musical or Orgazmo? Those are cult films, not THE WIZARD OF FARKING OZ!

Manos is fairly easy to get. There's an old single disc release, the new Shout Factory MST3K release has the film without riffing, and some guy just discovered an old 16mm workprint, and is endeavoring to bring the film to blu ray.

/MST3K is responsible for quite a few cult films.

Well Fight Club maybe because it almost didn't get made, a lot of upper level guys at 20th Century Fox got fired over it and it took a while for people to appreciate it.

But all those other ones, no.

But all those other ones, no.

Technically, you could say something similar about It's A Wonderful Life, since the movie was a failure until it became cheap or free TV airtime filler for channels in the '60s.

But, at this point, neither It's A Wonderful Life or Fight Club could be considered cult films. They're too popular and well known.

Yeah, the definition of "cult" is more than just unexpectedly grew long legs.

and maybe it's just my own tastes in movies but stuff like Romero's "Night of the Living Dead","Dawn of the Dead" and Hooper's "Chainsaw Massacre" went on to DEFINE ENTIRE GENRES of horror movies. That's not "cult"


Not nearly enough Roger Corman on this list either.

Pi, and Primer come to mind.

Also, a movie about a rising trend in the GOP.

Seriously, they're going to be a problem in California this election cycle.

"Rocky Horror Picture Show" HAD cult status at one time but due largely to it's fanatical followers turning it into a performance art it gained widespread exposure.

The author of TFA must be using the Cult definition of : Movies I myself like very much but don't think anyone else does
