Common mistake.

Angelous understanding of the language of the African American community is as poor as her writing, I have tried to wade through her books, and just meh.

James Baldwin is the man.

Don't be mean. She was probably just trying to get laid.

"Exquisite thick biatches".

Quite the silver-tongued troubadour,isn't he?

"So Maya, after all you've done to advance cultural understanding of the black American to middle-class white college freshmen, how do you feel about your accomplishments?"

"Imma git crunk'd, busta!"

i hope this doesn't end like the tupac/biggie feud.

FTFA- 'Common's dreams in the song include living in Miami with "exquisite thick biatches."'

To be fair, who HASN'T dreamed of this?

This is probably the most informed statement about Maya Angelou ever.

I find it highly implausible that she didn't know that Common, despite his more socio-political lyrics ala Mos Def,Talib Kweli,GZA,et al-peppers his rap with expletives. Socially-conscious rappers still curse.

Common got her pregnant?

From her expression here I have to wonder where his other hand is.

Fox News told me that he is a thug and she's lucky she didn't get murder-raped-robbed. And Maya? You ma'am are no exquisite thick biatch.

The wind. The rain. The fire.

The Butterfinger.

Did the Caveman know your delicious goodness?
Did the Mayan Priest exhalt in your buttery crunchiness?
Did the slothful Mastodon, upon his extinction, declare,
"Don't lay a finger on my Butterfinger?"

Oh, you finger of butter!
You proud confection!
Sugar brown roasted peanuts,
fructose, glucose, sucrose, lactose,
partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil.
Crispity, crunchity, peanut buttery--

I... give... myself... to... you.

Butterfinger.

Glad mantle of golden chocolaty hope upon my breast.

Lemme translate the brother's lyric into white:

Common's dream with women with big asses.

Mugato: Was she the mother on Good Times?

Dude you made me spit my bourbon and coke out on that one.

"I had no idea that Common was using the piece we had done together on [a track] in which he also used the 'N' word numerous times," Angelou said.

You spit out bourbon? There's nothing I can do that can repay that.

Wait, Maya Angelou is black???

Worst rap feud EVER. Next you'll hear Maya Angelou wrote a thinly veiled "dis" track about Common over his own beat....Wow, Maya does not play...

This guy put it so succinctly. Stop making me say the "bad word' in my head and say it yourself!

Joe Rogan has a decent bit on "magic words" too. Not quite as good, but a nice bit about context.

This is a vortex of suck sort of like Dan Quayle linking up with Vanilla Ice to lay down some funky trax.

nubian, please......

i'm not afraid of words
but that is a pretty tacky thing for a negro to do

I didn't know Mayans were offended by the n-word.

Common, vulgar, ordinary, often with derogatory connotations of cheapness or inferiority, to what is usual or most often experienced. Common applies to what is accustomed, usually experienced, or inferior, to the opposite of what is exclusive or aristocratic: "The park is used by the common people." Vulgar properly means belonging to the people, or characteristic of common people; it connotes low taste, coarseness, or ill breeding: the vulgar view of things; vulgar in manners and speech. Ordinary refers to what is to be expected in the usual order of things; it means average or below average: That is a high price for something of such ordinary quality.

You'd think as a wordsmith she might've cracked open a dictionary at some point on her path to literary glory, but alas and alack...

Meh, she is a very condescending woman, she expects to be called "Dr. Angelou", even though she has no college education, only honorary titles. Don't get me wrong, her work and life are inspiring. But lets face it, she's no angel herself... hell, she was a madam in a whore house, so the "N" word should be pretty tame stuff for her.
