A Jimmy Carter poem (taken from the United States of Poetry )
When I behold the charm
of evening skies, their lulling endurance;
the patterns of stars with names
of bears and dogs, a swan, a virgin;
other planets that the Voyager showed
were like and so unlike our own,
with all their diverse moons,
bright discs, weird rings, and cratered faces;
comets with their streaming tails
bent by pressure from our sun;
the skyscape of our Milky Way
holding in its shimmering disc
an infinity of suns
(or say a thousand billion);
knowing there are holes of darkness
gulping mass and even light,
knowing that this galaxy of ours
is one of multitudes
in what we call the heavens,
it troubles me. It troubles me.

Make that Paul Neil Milne Johnstone, of Redbridge (before Adams was forced to change it; I was never sure if the complaint came from Paul or someone else). An example:

The dead swans lay in the stagnant pool.
They lay. They rotted. They turned
Around occasionally.
Bits of flesh dropped off them from
Time to time.
And sank into the pool's mire.
They also smelt a great deal.

The best comparison for Obama is George Bush Sr. A center right grownup who had the thankless job of having to come in and clean up the mess after 8 years of reckless deregulation that led to a financial meltdown and a banking bailout.

InmanRoshi: The best comparison for Obama is George Bush Sr. A center right grownup who had the thankless job of having to come in and clean up the mess after 8 years of reckless deregulation that led to a financial meltdown and a banking bailout.

On the plus side, he won't get us into a random war in Iraq, fark up the end of the Cold War, and neither of his kids will be old enough to run for President in eight years.

(All those things said, I sometimes wonder if we'd be better off had Bush Sr had a second term.)

So they're able to dig up some obscure poem he wrote decades ago but are unable to find his grades in college?

And when Bush ran they found out that information within .5 seconds and made it a headline for months.

I wonder what the difference is.

I'm just pointing out that you're among the company of WND and Trump in giving a shiat about Obama's transcripts.

And that's as good a reason as any for Obama to not release them.

Sorry, I thought it was obvious. My point is that the investigative abilities of our national media on average seem to be influenced by the politics of the entity they are investigating.

So with Bush they were able to find this information immediately. With Obama . . . maybe it'll turn up most of the way through his second term. Or never. It's a low priority. Whereas with Bush it was a major priority.

DarnoKonrad: I'm just pointing out that you're among the company of WND and Trump in giving a shiat about Obama's transcripts.

You support not releasing certain information based on who is asking for it? Having double standards doesn't mean you have twice the integrity of others.

Additionally I don't think his or Bush's or anyone elses grades really matter all that much per se. But others do feel this is impartant. And the fact that the media is able to find those grades only if A) they are poor and B) they belong to a republican candidate does concern me. It would bother you too if the situation were reversed. Imagine if they'd done an in-depth investigation and found Obama was a C student at Harvard. But for Bush they took at his word that he did "fine, just fine" in college and let it go. That would outrage you and you'd call it bias at best, most likely racism.

So that is my concern: the double standard to which candidates are held based on their politics that smacks of journalistic bias.

Whether you agree with my assessment or not you can surely agree in the abstract that a media which is heavily biased towards one party (even though it's the party you always vote for) is less than ideal. Right?

Let me ask you something: is it illegal to leak information for everyone or just democrats?

And it was promptly reported on by virtually no one.

I can tell you're young because if you were near adulthood around 2000 you wouldn't try this laughable argument that Bush and Gore were treated the same way in the media.

Also that proves that this isn't really so illegal afterall, doesn't it? Meaning your argument that they couldn't possibly release Obama's transcripts is pretty weak. Consider your line of reasoning: they illegally released Bush's transcripts and made it in to a huge story they illegally released Gore's transcripts and ignored, ergo it is impossible to illegally release Obama's transcripts.

You can't cite as proof that something can't be done all the times it has been done.

I'm at a loss here. I really don't understand why you aren't getting this.

It is illegal you moran. You think Ivy League universities haven't taken greater precaution against this happening again after having transcripts leaked for both candidates for the 2000 election? Also who are they exactly? The lockstep marching liberal media?

Look up FERPA and educate yourself.

I think it's clear that you don't know what you're talking about. Claiming Gore and Bush were treated the same, claiming something is impossible because it's been done before and the like, saying that Gore's transcripts received the same attention as Bush's.

And to top if all off you fall back on projection; labeling me the idiot and liar when you have made many statements proving that you are dishonest and ignorant.

Why does it bother you so much that the media is going to bat for your guy? Seems like that would be something to brag about for an unprincipled ideologue such as yourself.

Actually I didn't. If you were an honest person you'd realize that. But I'm starting to understand that you are basically a dishonest individual.

What have I posted that is dishonest and ignorant? I needed to point out Gore's transcript release and FERPA to you. If you don't know anything about the subject please don't talk about it.

You attempted to equate the treatment of the two, which is obviously inaccurate. Then you claimed that it would be impossible for Obama's transcripts to be released since it would be illegal (then immediately refuted your own point by providing counter examples). So that's two lies, one of which is based on ignorance, the other likely on ideology.

By not illegally obtaining something they are going to bat for him? Are you insane?

By not illegally obtaining something they bent over backwards to illegally obtain for someone else.

Look there are only so many times I'm willing to repeat the exact same thing over and over again. You're beginning to resemble a brick wall that has learned to type and was inexplicably given internet access. At this point you either are mentally incapable of getting a simple point, which means there's no reason to talk to you any more or you are just trolling me, which means there's really no reason to talk to you any more.

No I never said it would be impossible. Just very hard and illegal. You didn't even know that it was illegal. I also pointed out that schools might try harder this time not be embarrassed like in 2000. Somehow all that went right over your head.

watson.t.hamster: By not illegally obtaining something they bent over backwards to illegally obtain for someone else.

How did they bend over backwards?

Ohh phil. Go cry me a river. You didn't know Gore's transcripts had also been leaked and you didn't know what FERPA was. You tried your hand at a second rate birther talking point and failed. Your shiatty account has only been here for a couple of months. Maybe you should make a new one and try again.
