The whole Marilyn Monroe angle was stupid, the photo shoot was faux-retro and pretentious, and not particularly good in the first place.

In the end, it was a blatantly transparent publicity stunt by both Playboy and Lohan. No point in paying for a subpar product you can get for free.

I'll just add that I found the pics online for free incidentally on another news filter site I frequent, and I still feel screwed because it put me out the opportunity cost of finding better softcore material, or god forbid actual porn.

I do have to say, though, that I am impressed with Playboy's ability to shut down any and all sites with the pics posted. I've tried to see them, out of morbid curiosity to see how badly they photoshopped her (guys, freckles are the point, and the only thing that made Lohan different). But each and every site that the Google gods bestow upon my browser claims to have been contacted by lawyers and had to take it down.

I have seen countless numbers of celebs try to shut down leaked nudes off their cellphones, and of course fail. Countless companies try to shut down leaked documents or incriminating pics, and of course fail. The internet always found a way. And I'm sure eventually, it will here too. But for now, they be essentially shut down the geek network of free information.

But then, maybe its that the pics aren't good enough for them to care that much about the fight. I guess I'll see for myself some day.

The shots were all bad. The scene/plan/shoot was ill-conceived. It's like, it doesn't matter how many people show up, and how nice my (and everybody else's) bikes are, and how great the trophies are for a bike race if the course sucks. Everything else even done to the pinnacle of awesome can't redeem the crit is the course blows. If they had done a, iono, surfing theme, or a beach theme, or something girl-next-doorsy and made her look healthy and beautiful it would have also had the effect up jacking-up the sexiness, hotness and value of the shoot.
The real question is if the shoot's theme, costumes etc were Hef's or Lohan's ideas.

It also doesn't help that Lohan looks bored in most of the shots. Trolling Google to see the shots yielded quite a few side-by-side comparisons of Lohan's pics to the Monroe originals, and the biggest thing I noticed was that, while Monroe looked engaged and playful in her shots, Lohan looked bored out of her skull.

Lindsay, honey, if you really do want to restart your career, you gotta stop obviously phoning it in whenever you do anything that doesn't involve booze or blow.

Dumpster outside the firestation. We would hop up the side and peek in when we rode our bikes past it going to the store. Now and then there would be an issue or two sitting within easy reach.

Thing is, this is the second shoot that Hefner ordered and conceived after the first one turned out terrible. Just how bad was the first one if this was the publishable one?!

I know a lot of people who wanted to see the pictures; myself included. Mostly out of curiosity. I would have paid a few bucks to see her and then go, 'lol - what happened to her?'.

But they were pirated and put online. So myself and countless others decided to check them out first and decided not to buy the magazine. And because of the pirated pics, Playboy had to push up the release date meaning less time to hype it up.

Piracy *does* mean lost income. I know, I know, this is the internet and nobody wants to hear it.....

The people who still buy playboy have never heard of lohan. The target audience for this shoot has never heard of marylin monroe, or hugh hefner.

They got the shoot all wrong. They didn't capture her character. She isn't glamorous. The woman in the photos was completely unrecognizable as Lohan. This could have been hot, but they screwed it up. It should have been taken with low lighting in a seedy motel room, with cigarettes on the carpet and a tipped over wine glass. Think the video for Fiona Apple's Criminal.
