(LA Times) Amusing Rick Perry compares himself to Tim Tebow. Let's see: overly religious, none too bright, wildly overrated, and nobody can figure out how he's still in the game? Yeah that fits   (articles.latimes.com) divider line 63

No Rick. Tebow may be a zealot, but he's humble, polite and likable. You, however, are a total prick who needs to jump off a cliff onto very pointy rocks.

Howlin Mad Murphy: Haha! They are talking about Tebow for the Pro Bowl now!!! The end MUST be near.

That would be a disaster for TV ratings. No one would tune in until the 4th quarter.

I made this joke days ago, when it was relevant.

I would honestly vote for Tebow before I'd vote for Perry.

Yeah, pretty much this. Tebow is not nearly enough of an arsehole to compare to Perry.

Politics compares itself to football. Let's see: overly homoerotic with essentially arbitrary yet adamantly cherished loyalties. Yeah that fits.

Uh, you do realize that he typed "Attractive and Successful" intentionally, right? Since the filter would've automatically changed the phrase to "Attractive and Successful African American".

In any case, your butthurt over a thread poking fun at Rick Perry is pretty amusing. Any more petty grammatical/syntax errors you want to argue about?

Texans are really a bit, you know, they like male cheerleaders. This (new window) may help you understand. Prolly NSFW a little.

Anyone who can't finish a single farking sentence without mentioning Jesus is an asshole. There's no point in measuring degrees of it.

Hey! Come on! Tebow has had many great combacks....against the worst rated teams, so, come on!

Mike Tomczak of the '85 Chicago Bears was an insufferably stuck-up glory whore himself during his time. He earned a LOT of ire from the other teams for being such an ass that one day against the Oakland raiders someone went up and did something about it.

A player from Oakland walked up to Mike during a game, grabbed him in a bear hug, and SLAMMED him right into the dirt, busting Tomczak's tibia and ending his professional career right then and there.

Maybe Timmay needs a "hug" too.

You might recall in another thread where I commented that religious things such as creches and crosses on public property give christians an excuse to be major a-holes and use these things as proof that this is s christian nation and we should ban gay marriage and force kids to pray to Jesus in school.

Tebow is one of those examples, cuz you can damn well bet that there's some bible-banging d*ckheads out there who are using Tebow as proof that god's an American, He watched footballllllllllll, and He votes republican.

I believe in the existence of a creator and I find Tebow to be an idiot. To imagine that the Creator would help him win football games is a manifestation of a massively over-blown ego.

What do people in Texas think about Rick Perry? He comes across as a person of extremely common education and intelligence, and I don't mean that in a good way.

I've always found that idea pretty offensive. Yea, God doesn't do anything to help starving, dying, tortured children but he totally takes the time to make sure your team wins a football game, people. Really. Football. That's God's priority numero uno.

To be fair, Perry probably does have a more compact throwing motion.

I think a certain group of people just likes this 'Tebow' fellow because his name sounds kind of like "Teabag".

I'm as much of an anti-theist as the next person, but I still don't get the Tebow hate. The guy seems like a decent human being. I have yet to hear him make a reference to how this is a Christian nation, or tell someone they're going to hell if they don't believe in Jesus, or anything of the sort. Every reference I've heard him make to God is in relation to himself, and you know, that's perfectly fine with me.

Now, if he starts spouting off about teh evil gays and how we need to put God back in Government (publicly at least), then I'll understand the Tebow hate. Haven't seen that from him yet. I have, however, seen that from Rick Perry.

He did a commercial in support of Focus on the Family, an organization that promotes bigotry and lobbies politically for all of the things you just mentioned.

No he didn't.

Observation: When an athlete displays the qualities of cooperation, compassion and empathy, he's called a great leader, but when the President does the same, he's called a socialist. Perry may want to rethink that.

Curious, I went and looked at the ad. Neither he nor his mother made any political claims, so I'll leave it at that. Agreeing with focus on the family and promoting them isn't the same as being a spokesperson and being politically active himself. I know many who listen to it, quite possibly agree with their positions, and that's fine. But Tebow is not out there making political statements on a daily basis. In fact he seems to me to be a fairly apolitical person more focused with life on the field than off.

Don't hurt yourself with that stretch. If you agree to promote a politically active organization that makes you politically active. And he made a statement about his beliefs when he did so.
