OREGON - Police arrested two Washington men Monday night after they allegedly threw bags of marijuana at a patrol car during a chase.
The incident happened around 9:01 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5 when a trooper pulled over a vehicle for speeding.
After police pulled the vehicle over, the driver, 33 year-old Joshua Edward Lutz, got back in the car and sped off.
While attempting to elude the trooper at speeds up to 110 mph, the two occupants tossed small bags of marijuana out the window toward the patrol car.
The vehicle exited the freeway and the driver fled on foot.
The trooper caught up to the driver about 150 yards from the car and took him into custody.
The passenger, identified as 32 year-old Nathan Garza, was also taken into custody.
Troopers and Lane County deputies retrieved marijuana from along the freeway and in the car.
Approximately 5 pounds was seized with an estimated value of $12,000.
Both Lutz and Garza face charges including Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

This reminds me of an episode of COPS where a guy got pulled over for expired registration. He had a warrant so the cops had to arrest him. He then told the cops that he was on his way back from the grocery store and asked the cops to deliver the groceries to his home where his wife was so they wouldn't spoil. The cops obliged, but when they knocked on the door, nobody answered. So, they peeked in the kitchen window only to see a meth lab in plain sight.

Moral of the story; if you are making meth, use some of the profits to keep your car legal. And don't send the cops to your house if you have a meth lab in it.

The photo in the article really got me laughing. I can just imagine all that shiat flying in their faces and them freaking out about it. I imagined them as Cheech and Chong, all stoned, batting at the pot flying in the window.

I'm surprised no one's put a thermite charge over their stash to annihilate the evidence at the push of a button. It'll constitute a total loss of vehicle, but that'll be confiscated anyways. Even losing the vehicle when you don't have to is far cheaper than the charges.

It IS possible to do, with essentially total obliteration, if this was something less than a sq ft. Those trucks packs with 500 lbs, maybe not so much. Just gasoline has a big risk of being put out if a fire truck gets there fast enough. Thermite and some other chemicals could never be extinguished this way, and are far too quick.

I wonder about how that would play out, legally. It's generally impractical to pursue charges without physical evidence, if the occupant(s) were to fully exercise their right to remain silent. But, they might get charges of "manufacture and transport of a destructive device".

The $150 an oz could very well be accurate. That's about the going rate for good stuff around here. And it's hard to tell for sure from that photo, it does appear to be at least decent quality. It's certainly not mexican brick-weed.

Of course, I wouldn't know that from personal experience or anything.

Actually, I just bought an O of nice weed for $150 today. But, that's 'straight from the grow-op with the friend's price' price. A pound is $700, but a farking pound of weed is a felony territory, and is a couple year's worth of weed. Weed goes WAY down in price as you buy bulk. Especially after the 1 oz. point. 'Risk/reward' and all that.

Check your math also. Quarter pounds go for $700, not pounds.
