But on average, they're one Hell of an experienced and popular candidate.

The race got too dirty for Sanchez?

Joe Biden was only 29 when he got his start.

"a guy who's been dead for 191 years"

So he supports Texas' long history of capital punishment? (or perhaps experienced it)

Ahh yes, I often refer to myself as "General Ricardo Sanchez" when drunk.

If Jesus came back and ran as a Dem for Senator in TX, he'd lose.

Lionel Mandrake: If Jesus came back and ran as a Dem for Senator in TX, he'd lose.

He's a socialist. A Pinko commie. The Tea Party would toss him to the curb before they even knew he was Jesus.

And, it's Texas. Just leave them alone and let Darwin take care of the rest. Take it back whenever you like, Mexico.

I really miss Ralph Yarbrough. And Ann Richards. And Jim Hightower. Texas used to be a place where liberals and conservatives could (usually) argue over the issues. Now, if you're anywhere to the left of Attilla the Hun, your only option is to just leave the state. And I resent it.

Good. fark torture. I'd rather have some nobody than a torturer dragging the party down with him.

Didn't Friedman endorse Perry?

Molly Ivins was no loss, she had no class.

Any time one party dominates for too long a time, regardless of the party, it a bad thing. Look at the House of Representatives under Democrats control for 40 years. The party in power is always the most corrupt. It would not be catastrophic for the Democrats to actually be able to win a state wide elected office just to keep things in balance

The Democrats are where GOP was in the State of Texas some 30 years ago. They really don't have any viable candidates and despite a growing minority majority populations any Democrat success for State wide office is going to be more of the result of people voting against the Republican Candidate not for the Democrat

Don't let the door hit you in the butt on your way out. We got too many people moving here from California and Michigan; bringing with them the same ideas that ruined their states and forced them to move in the first place.

hasty ambush: Didn't Friedman endorse Perry?

Not really

"....simply put, Rick Perry and I are incapable of resisting each other's charm. He is not only a good sport, he is a good, kindhearted man, and he once sat in on drums with ZZ Top. A guy like that can't be all bad. When I ran for governor of Texas as an independent in 2006, the Crips and the Bloods ganged up on me. When I lost, I drove off in a 1937 Snit, refusing to concede to Perry. Three days later Rick called to give me a gracious little pep talk, effectively talking me down from jumping off the bridge of my nose. Very few others were calling at that time, by the way. Such is the nature of winning and losing and politicians and life. You might call what Rick did an act of random kindness. Yet in my mind it made him more than a politician, more than a musician; it made him a mensch."

You're probably right. He isn't much of a Democrat anyway from the looks of it. I think he just doesn't like Republicans because they were in charge when he didn't get his fourth star because of Abu Ghraib. He was in line for it, but after that, they didn't think he would pass the Senate nomination. He hates the ACLU from the sound of it. I have a feeling you guys are better off without him. If he'd gotten that 4th star and Southern Command from Bush, 20 bucks says right now he'd be a "Latino Republican to Watch".

Ah, the period leading up to the Republican Revolution led by Reagan. An awful period characterized by the growth of the middle class, increasing wages and terrible things like private pensions or vacations. Thank goodness we moved past that hell.

Also- Molly Ivins took shiats that were worth more than you, buddy.
