Are they the ones with the commercials where they say that their pizza sucks but they're going to get better and please take us back and basically sounded like an abusive husband?

Yeah, they're great.

Yep. It's amazing how admitting your food sucks makes you popular with Americans.

"Baby, I know that my pizza sucked. But I was drinking a lot back then, and I had a lot of bad shiat going on in my life. I'm all cleaned up now, I got my life back together, and I'm making much better pizza. I promise you I'll never make you a shiatty pizza again. Please come back to me, won't ya baby?"

And the pizza still tastes like shiat

I haven't tried the new stuff. Is it actually better?

We usually get frozen pizza. It's more convenient given where we live, and it's cheaper. If we get pizza from somewhere like that, it's usually Papa John's.

Ten times better. Definitely better than Pizza Hut or Papa Johns. It's no Papa Gino's, but Papa Gino's isn't even Papa Gino's anymore.

/yes there are better pizzas out there, but we're talking about pizza chains right now

I tried it once. It's different, and maybe a little higher quality than before. Still, I didnt like the taste of the sauce and havent ordered it again. YMMV. For context- I like Donato's for delivery if you have those in VA

So tell me, assessing the health of a company or our economy based on stock price- what the f*ck does that do for us as a society? Do companies exist to provide goods and services and offer jobs to keep our economy running or to serve shareholder interests? Why is it that for middle-class people "shareholder democracy" is a myth and mainly just akin to reckless gambling?

What does Wall Street really offer us?

One of the problems is that people seem to think of owning stock as the company owing them something. That's stupid. Do you remember all the whining a couple years back with the car companies about "what about the stockholders, what do they get if the company goes under!?"

The real answer is: jacksh*t. You're a shareholder. That means you're an owner. If the owner of a sole proprietorship goes under, he doesn't get to put himself at the front of the line before the people he owes money to when the assets get sold off. Same thing if you own stock. The company doesn't "owe" you anything, you own part of the company. If you don't like the way they're doing something, you can either dump your shares, or try and get other shareholders on board to do something to change the company's direction.

As to your question, capitalism is a tool. It can work well or it can work horribly, depending on the people involved and the level at which it is regulated. Claiming that capitalism is evil is like claiming that fire is evil or guns are evil. Ask people who keep warm from fire and keep fed by shooting deer if those things are evil.

I didn't even use the word "capitalism". What's sad is that these days people think critiquing the stock market is critiquing capitalism, but for many years the stock market was a marginalized part of our capitalist economy. For a long time CEOs wanted nothing to do with Wall Street but since the '80s we've had changes to our economy that means everything must go through Wall Street and serve its interests. My question remains: what does Wall Street do for us? (Not "what does capitalism do for us?")

If you want to get into BS technicalities, okay:

Wall Street is just a street. What do you have against it? More specifically, what do you mean by "Wall Street"?

Did you mean the NYSE? The type of trading that tend to go on at the NYSE? Or the actions of the banks that have a great deal of influence over activities within the NYSE?

Do you dislike the NYSE, but have no problem with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, because it is not located on Wall Street?

Perhaps if you were more specific with the institution you were complaining about, I could be more specific in my arguments. You were vague, so I generalized.

I one time looked at a Dominos pizza and vomited diarrhea out of my mouth for a month.

I only eat at the mom and pop pizza place on the corner of not going to tell you because then you plebeians will go there.

Much better. Still unremarkable, but for fast food pizza, they are no longer the worst of the bunch. That falls to Little Caesars and sadly, Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut's pizza actually tastes worse now than the old Domino's pizza did.

I didn't thing there was a pizza much worse than Godfathers till i had Dominoes.

Tasted like ketchup on an old shoe.

Way to go Mr. CEO.

I dunno...the pizza hut in my area isn't bad. I've never liked domino's pizza tho. something about the sauce just doesn't sit right with my taste buds. And I think the only reason I go with papa johns is because they're the only ones who deliver in my area (I live a bit off the beaten path).

i'm a pizza nazi and Domino's is clearly superior to Pizza Hut and Papa John's

2011-12-17 01:47:57 PM
Dominos is okay for an occasion when I'm more hungry than in need of something delicious.
But when I want something tasty, it really depends on what type of pizza I'm going for.
For Pepperoni, I got Mountain Mike's.
For a mozzarella, basil and tomato, I go to a place called Joe's.
For Cheese, Greenwich on Santa Monica.

by the slice after the bars? Goodfella's
for a Sicilian pie or good meatball topping? Slice of Chicago
for weird toppings and strange themed pizzas? Puccini's or L.A. Gourmet

for severe intestinal distress? Domino's, Pizza Hut, Sir Pizza, or Papa Johns
for never-again-will-i-go-there pizza? Little Caesar's

So, uh, you know that commercial for pizza they've been airing lately? I think it's frozen pizza. Anyway, this black dude is throwing a big ass-party and dude rings the bell with one small-ish looking pizza.

Uh, yeah - like we're supposed to believe that shiat. Guy has a big house, loud music, big party and he orders one medium pizza?

Never seen one, Never seen one, Never seen one, Never seen one - And I've seen all the chains.

So, any other Clevelanders know where I can get a good slice without paying through the nose for it? Im in Parma right now.

Dominos is pretty good - at least the one by my place is. I miss Vito's and Bambino's in Toledo though.

Dominos is way better than it used to be. Some of the newer stuff (the new cheesy bread, artisans, and pizzas like the philly steak) is actually pretty damn tasty.

A Dominos pizza is better than a Pizza Hut Pizza. Dominos "hand tossed" pizza is tossed by hand. At Pizza Hut they have this cryogenically frozen disk that looks like it was cut with a laser. They thaw it out and throw some toppings on it. I'm not making this up.

Haven't had Papa John's in awhile, but their quality and dedication to their product was always very high.

As far as Mr. CEO is concerned near as I can tell he reduced debt by selling off any underperforming store as a franchise. For that matter he may have sold nearly all of them. I know they sold 15 in the Atlanta area alone.

Also Dominos has many conflicting policies that lead to uneven quality. The company that claims its #1 priority is making great pizzas and happy customers is so obsessed with trivial food cost percentages that they will often skimp a pizza and lose a customer entirely over 10 cents of food. (I have seen it happen over half a handful of sliced green peppers.) This situation is made even worse when corporate is telling you one thing and your franchise owner tells you something else. For instance I once was part of a contest to see which store could sell the most chicken wings but my franchise told me that I was not allowed to even mention chicken to the customer "because the food cost is too high. Try to sell pizzas instead." In fact they said they were doing phone audits to make sure no one tried to sell any chicken. During Dominos' chicken selling contest.

Now you want to talk about shiat pizza, let's talk about Cici's. Cici's falls in the same boat as Little Caesar's where the product is so cheap who cares how it tastes.

All I can say is he must be cleaning up on the pig slop they call the breadless Mac N Cheese.

Dried out penne pasta with nacho cheese sauce poured over it then broiled until it's burned. It made their pathetic sandwiches look gourmet.

Yummy. Overprice pig slop.

Last time I ever buy anything from Domino's. It had been almost 2 years since the previous order.

I would have complained to corporate again but since they didn't bother to listen to my complaint last time...

I don't use slave labor. I hire sub-contractors who use slave labor.

If there is a CEO out there I'd want my kids to model their life and business practices after (and I can't think of one off the top of my head), it sure as hell wouldn't be Steve Jobs.
