I went into that article expecting it to be less racist than it looked from the headline.

Nope! It was worse!

Sober people don't say things like that. He should be drug tested.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Dante Hicks is just like you. He loves grape soda. He knows what it's like when the guy in the supermarket won't take your food stamps. Or how it feels to wait all month for your welfare check.

Rick Scott's poor too, he can relate to those kids. Rick Scott is so poor that he lost all his hair trying to pay off a loan

I cannot believe this man is my governor. Ugh, Florida.

"We have a lot in common. Like many of you, I also enjoy watermelon and fried chicken. Back when I had hair, I used to adorn it with a pick bearing the 'Black power fist' on the handle. I enjoyed Newport cigarettes and Hennessey, and the occasional Colt 45. Why, when I was working my way through college as a houseboy for a wealthy accountant, I broadened my mind by tap dancing for spare change on the streets in my off time, in-between shoeshine clients. I can assure you that I'm no jive turkey, and think we could really rap, if you'd dig that at some point,"

Used to work in a factory as a technician on computers. We had a black gentleman come in who owned a company and had come in to work on some of our equipment and were sitting in my office. A guy I worked with asked him basically "were you born an underprivilaged child?" The man proceeded to tell him how his dad was 1/2 Cherokee Indian, he had one sister that was a doctor, one that was a nurse, one that was a lawyer, one that went to work for the FBI, he owned his own company and on and on and on. I really wanted laugh out loud because of the stupid look on the face of the idiot that aksed the question.

I assumed he was talking about the governor's mansion at first. But yeah, that's bad too.

Rick Scott.

Really, my fellow Floridians, en masse you are idiots.

I think he slipped a bit when he called it Florida Ape and Monkey.

2011-12-17 06:55:08 AM
While I can appreciate the governor's humble background, i.e. living in public housing, man, did he put his foot in his mouth assuming all FAMU students were poor.

/What a Cracker!

2011-12-17 07:19:45 AM
Yeah, I was expecting the school to have some disproportionate number of full ride folks or something to make that possibly not racist. Doesn't look that way, though.

2011-12-17 07:25:12 AM
Maybe he has a point about the drug testing. I mean, his parents weren't tested to qualify for public housing, and look how he turned out.

/not serious about the drug testing
//very serious he that turned out to be a f*ckwit

That man needs an intervention and some rehab. I understand his family keeps him around for the LULZ, but really, get the man some help.

It's none of the dumbass' busines. the black dude should not have felt any need to defend himself against some ...................... what was the race of the dude who asked the question? you don't mention it (why?)

or maybe the reason why you don't mention it, as innocent a reason that may be, may be why the dude flipped out?

Still no reason to explain yourself. and going to the 'i'm not all black' card ------- which is what the cherokee (negro please) card is all about ---- torpedoes everything.

What did you do to the dude who asked the question in the first place, afterwards? or did you say nothing?

Many times I have spent on Fark explaining why people need to hold back the race card. That try as you might, it's not racism. This is why you hold back the race card. So when you do see it, the race card is relevant.

This is blatant racism. This guy is a bona fide racist.

To truly bond with the students I propose Gov. Scott should go through the traditional hazing process with the FAMU Marching Band.

2011-12-17 11:21:27 AM
The really sad thing is that people who are living in public housing don't need to be shamed like this by some Lex Luthor wannabe.

2011-12-17 11:27:36 AM
Dumbass. You'd think that the governor of Florida would know that one of the big selling points of going to FAMU is that they've got a really strong network of wealthy alumni, many of whom also send their kids there.

Way to go, Rick. Why don't you tell them you could relate to their drummer 'cuz one time ya got beat-down on da-stoop by the neighborhood gangstas while you were smokin' a loosey after you refused to pay the chickenhead for her services? Try to work something about grape drink and cornbread in while you're at it, you jackass.

Damn Rick, do you think before you speak at all? This is a reflection on all of you, Florida. Next time, get to the friggin' poles unless you want this to happen again..

I see that while talking about his past he failed to mention the forty cake incident. And that's just terrible.

2011-12-17 02:37:12 PM
You'd think that the students and the media would be more outraged at the murder of a student who was beaten to death on the band bus.

The college has known of the hazing for a long time.

You mean that story that has been on the front cover of CNN.com for the last 3 weeks? The same story (and its 1067 related stories) that keeps taking up a disproportionate amount of my Google News page? Yeah, that story hasn't received much coverage or outrage at all.

Considering the M.E. just declared it a homicide yesterday?

"The crowd did not allow him to finish."

Sadly, that's probably the best way to treat most Republican politicians who are dumb enough to speak in public nowadays.

Submit it.

Or continue to trivialize and ignore conservatives' racist slips showing while dragging eight feet of toilet paper around on your shoe.

I'm just fine with the GOP embarrassing itself into irrelevance and nonexistence.
It's been a deadweight on this country since the sixties.

This guy is a disgrace of a governor. I wish we had a recall process in the state. At least he didn't make a comment about grape drank and fried chicken in the dining halls, who knows, he might have if they had let him finish.
