That's really not as gaudy as I was expecting. I wouldn't buy one for myself even if I had that kind of money to throw around but, if it were to show up in my driveway Christmas morning, I'd make room in the garage.

It's not hard to figure out what they want. Low unemployment, a move from corporate welfare to social programs, lower income disparity (or at least fewer conflicts of interests and less apparent corruption), more effective regulation of mega corporations, etc. etc.

Basically, pick up any political program of any major political party that was written a couple of decades ago and you'll find those items in there, either as explicit goals, or as policies that have since been abandoned and got us into this mess.

Political parties just like to say "we just don't understand them, it's so unclear and nebulous" even though they promise essentially the same stuff come every election. It's never nice to be called out on a couple of decades of broken election promises.

A wee bit more expensive, rather more british and quite more class.

FTFA: It is fitted with the same 6-litre twin-turbocharged engine of the Ghost, giving the saloon more than 560bhp and a top speed of 155mph.

FIsh?

I have always wanted one. And an E-type Jaguar. You know, just for spare. I've never seen the appeal of a Rolls, or a Bentley - too big, and associated with being hire cars for weddings.

What kind of mileage does it get? Today you have to consider this when you shop for a new car.

Middle eastern monarchs tend to be fans of both gold and Rolls Royce. I'm sure the car has already been sold..or maybe auctioned to the highest bidder.

Pure gold is very heavy and very soft. This sounds like a terrible idea.

Platinum is cheaper than gold right now, by almost $200/ozt.

Exactly. A lot of people are mad about a bunch if different things. All muddled together you get the Occupy movement. They lacked a clear message other than "were fed up" from what I can tell.

I would hate myself if I owned it, though. No man should own something like it. Should be in a museum for all to enjoy.

Basically this.

I saw basically because there are wealthy Russians or Arabs who naturalize and those technically Americans will be driving these wastes of money.

When I was a student one of the hairdressers in the south end Geneva neighbourhood where the student residence was situated had a Rolls Royce with a gold mascot. I thought THAT was tacky.

I don't much like the two-tone paint job and the rest of the car seems squarely aimed at the Petrostate and Hip Hop markets.

The most attractive Royces date from the late 1920s and early 1930s. Something like 75% of all the cars ever built are still road-worthy, and that includes models that date back all the way to 1904 or thereabouts.

The RR logo was originally in red but when one of the two founders died, it became black and red, and then when both Mr. Roll,s the race car driver and salesman, and Mr. Royce, the carriage-maker, died, they both became black. I learned that in a car museum which had quite a collection of Royces.

They've been customizing the cars for the garish tastes of Royality, Celebrity and Nouveau Riche money forever. This might not be the ugliest car they ever built.

Hard to beat this one for over-wrought splendor (note the snake):

I saw the interior and one thought immediately sprung to mind.

Guido Mobile.

Not that your typical guido could even remotely afford one, but it just screams guido "style".

I spent some time poking around the Rolls Royce website the other day just for shiats. I think they are ugly as sin.

It'll probably go to Saudi Arabia or UAE, where there isn't any old money, and people haven't developed class yet.

Can someone explain to me the point of a super-high-powered long-wheelbase chauffeured car? I wouldn't want my chauffeur hooning my car and, if you are buying a long wheel-base rolls royce, you definitely aren't driving it yourself. Obviously I would want my car to have ample power (300 hp v8 or something) so that my chauffeur can easily merge on the highway (cars this size aren't light), but I don't get the point of a 500hp v12 in a car that I'd never be driving/would just tempt my chauffeur to drive dangerously.

for all those high speed chases. plus, they will trick the car out with bulletproof plating, which is heavy. heavy cars need power
