Can this one come off like it wasn't made by a pair of ADD-addled 14-year old retards?

/Liked parts of the first one, but the second one sucked.

Hell yes! Crank 2 was a critic-proof flick, if the middle finger at the end wasn't obvious enough. I saw that movie while self-medicating, I thought I halucinated the Godzilla fight. The strip club scene with Amy Smart was trashy hot, same with the horse race.

/fark you chelios!

If you know beforehand what you are walking into....Absolute awesome movies!

stoli n coke: Can this one come off like it wasn't made by a pair of ADD-addled 14-year old retards?

I thought that was the point and it worked well for Crank and Crank 2.
Gamer, on the other hand, made by the same writers/directors was craptacular. I walked out in the middle of the film and i was watching it at home.

Mmm...Amy Smart.

Actresses with small boobies who always get naked in movies > actresses with big boobies who never get naked in movies.

I hope they bring back Mike Patton for number 3. He is good at making psychotic music.

Oh, come off it! We all know that Crank and Crank 2 were terrible wastes of time and film which shouldn't have been made at... at...

Ah, I just can't do it.

I'm in. These movies are f*ckin' awesome! :D

2011-12-17 07:03:48 AM
Let's do this.

2011-12-17 07:47:58 AM
I love how Jason Statham has never given up on the role regardless of how ridiculous it is.

And Amy Smart...

More Amy Smart please, less of that crazy asian person.

2011-12-17 07:53:38 AM
I get what the films were trying to do, and it that, they were very successful. They just didn't do anything for me (asides from the lovely Ms Smart).

/also, never been a Statham fan

2011-12-17 08:10:49 AM
The best part of those movies is Dwight Yoakam as the doctor.

Couldn't be any worse than Transporter 3.

I'm not sure how they can top Crank 2 in terms of shear awesome ridiculousness.

2011-12-17 09:02:26 AM
Sweet, this series has been a lot of fun so far. Amy smart makes my pants fit funny.

stoli n coke: Can this one come off like it wasn't made by a pair of ADD-addled 14-year old retards?

Right- it should come off as ADD-addled retards who scripted it while spanking off to the Sears catalog. Anything less would be uncivilized.

The Crank films represent the best filmmaking of this century, so far.

I hate it when people talk about movies in terms of "turning the brain off", or "popcorn flick", because 99% of the time it's a way to excuse bad film-making.

Crank and Crank 2 are that other 1%.

It's a difficult thing to quantify. As a filmmaker (I'm just a Final Cut and Maya monkey but "filmmaker" sounds gayer and more pretentious), I hate the phrases "popcorn film" and "check your brain at the door". Movies, even action movies should strive to be better than that.

But once in a great while a movie comes along that embraces its farking ridiculousness and most importantly, executes it well. And most-most importantly, displays boobies when the plot doesn't call for it. The Crank films are two of those movies. So bring on the third.

Most of my friends hate both the Crank movies. I thought they were freaking awesome. Its not meant to be taken serious. I also like the fact that it isnt just another typical crap hollywood film where you pretty much know whats gonna happen in the movie. I mean come on who thought the dude from the first movie would be a talking head in the second movie? seriously who seen that coming?

2011-12-17 10:28:48 AM
As long as this movie involves Jason Statham shirtless, I am SO THERE.

I love the Crank flicks. They're not meant to be works of critical theatric plot and character development genius. They're actiony, explosiony, blatantly ridiculous and offensive, and THAT IS WHAT MAKES THEM FUN.

2011-12-17 10:52:55 AM
I saw "Crank" and was terribly disappointed. A movie with Crank in the title should at least have J. Arthur Crank appear once in it.

There is not getting it.

There is missing the point.

And then there is you. Going forward, when someone displays such a colossal misunderstanding of something, it shall be known as "stoli and coking it".

2011-12-17 10:57:57 AM
The second was not as good, but they're both really good at what they do.

I liked "The Godfather Part III"

You're all half-wrong. Yes, the Crank franchise is awesome, no doubt about it. But it's not merely mindless over the top ridiculousness. These films have layers, subtle, difficult to discern, but still there. Chev Chelios as protagonist is clearly a metaphor of our own pent up anxieties, our desire to break free of the constraints upon society placed upon us all. Those who pursue him, who try to destroy him, they are those forces which place a yolk upon our lives, who strive to break us, turn us all into automatons and consumers. Truly, Chev Chelios is an expression in the angst within us all towards societies restrictions on making sweet, sweet anal love to goats, and the occasional thirteen year old girl. Perhaps someday, there will be no need for Chev, when we are truly free, until then, I for one am eternally greatful.

2011-12-17 11:24:15 AM
Ok so what's the plot device? The first one he was drugged, the second one his heart was stolen (if I remember right). What this time? His brain? Zombie Statham?

Yeah, and NSFW Amy Smart got naked NSFW.

Crank 2 seemed like a bunch of 12 year olds just stuck a bunch of random ideas on a wall and sold it to a producer. I mean, come on....the Godzilla scene?

BEST MOVIE EVAR! HELL yeah, I'm in for Crank 3

2011-12-17 11:56:03 AM
Crank 2 was like a mad experiment that combined Evil Dead 2 and Commando.

That's precisely why I will be there for Crank 3.

Y'all are aware Godfather III was nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director, right?

That does not necessarily mean it was the greatest thing ever though.

Thwack: Y'all are aware Godfather III was nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director, right?

I honestly don't get the hatred for Godfather 3. Sure it wasn't as good as the first two but then I'm in the minority that thought the first was better than the second. So, I dunno, the third one wasn't so bad.

Sofia Coppola was kind of terrible but what were they supposed to do? She's a Coppola. She had to be in there somewhere. If Nick can have a career handed to him, she deserves one.

2011-12-17 01:34:22 PM
Oh FARK yeah!

The Crank films are like a bottle of premium, 110 proof awesome. If you didn't have fun watching them then you are a joyless, bitter, sorry person who probably hates everything that isn't a pretentious art house drama.

Crank 1 was fun. Crank 2 was retarded. It took everything that made Crank great, and took it seriously and too self-conciously over the top.

It's Saints Row: The Movie as far as I'm concerned, and I can't wait!

Have you tried the racetrack banging? If not it's a theory worthy of testing. I would even volunteer to help you carry out human testing.
