Is it going to be in Kokomo?

No.

Brian Wilson slurring his lyrics, and Al Jardine and Mike Love trying not to kill each other onstage.

SOUNDS LIKE A BLAST!

Mike Love is a stain upon the Earth. What a greedy, violent untalented piece of shiat douche.

I am stunned that Brian agreed to this. Whatever the reason, God bless you Brian. You deserved better from this life than the personal torment you have experienced.

Dennis and Carl Wilson die, yet Mike Love is still there to cash in on Brian Wilson's talent while making his life a living hell? I know blood is thicker than water, but Jesus. The best I'd do for him were I Brian is piss on him if he were on fire. Truthfully, I hope this "reunion" is because Mike Love is broke so that Brian can tell him to shut up and color.

Singers are bigger, faster, and stronger than they were fifty years ago. That's how come The Beach Boys aren't on the radio today. They can't compete with Ke$ha™ or Katy Perry™, two of the cornerstones of the Beasley Broadcasting™ and Clear-Channel Radio™ music lineups. The Beat™ only plays the best hit music with the kind of variety that suits my mainstream tastes. I have a sinking feeling this is just a huge cash grab.

Hey Mike,

you should really scale back on the win in your posts. I've noticed that the total win quotient in your "serious" posts has become a leeetle too large of late, and figured I'd clue you in before the damage is irreversible.

Why is it just him that is greedy? All parties had to agree to the tour, not just one guy, unless hes holding their families hostage.

That being said I dont think its a good idea, I saw Brian sing the other day in a video and it was terrible.

Fark Mike Love. That is all.

I saw Brian Wilson this year. He doesn't need those guys. The singers he had doing the old Beach Boys songs nailed it. Even though he sounds like that Bill Murray character when he talks, when he sang he sounded great. And the band was incredible.

The first hour of the Show were Beach Boys songs and the second hour...Gershwin, given the Brian Wilson treatment. Totally amazing.

He is the Beach Boys

Bob Dylan has said of Brian Wilson's talents, "That ear - I mean, Jesus, he's got to will that to the Smithsonian."

And I agree with Cybernia, he sounds like Bill Murray in Caddyshack, which I find endearing.

2011-12-17 10:27:28 AM
I saw Brian tour with his own band, a year or so back. It was way tighter and more authentic-sounding than the actual beach men, they nailed it. I think I've seen the Beach Boys live about 12 times over the years, mostly in the 80's. The last time I saw them, Love was a huge douche, and everybody was off key. So this may be a case where the replacement band is better than the "original". So now I'm torn about if I should go see the tour or not. It's like: do I wanna remember grandpa in his good days, vital, funny, personable, or as an unresponsive flesh lump full of tubes in a hospital bead, as my last memory of him?"

Yeah, what? The Beach Boys have been on iTunes at least since 2006 and even had exclusive releases there.

The only reason to catch these old farts is for nostalgia - if you're over 50. The "music" was always a novelty. Now it is a sad parody.

I wonder if Paris will be part of the tour? Maybe Sarkozy will show up since his office likes them.

The music started out that way, but Brian Wilson was doing really neat things in the late 1960s, hindered only by Mike Love and his ineptitude.

Not familiar with Pet Sounds are you? It's widely considered the best album released in the 60's (and one of the best albums in the history of modern music). It led the Beatles to completely change the way they approached recording (and also led to Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band)

It also has "God Only Knows" which is quite possibly the greatest pop song ever written.

/Under 50 - not a fan of the surf pop stuff but Brian Wilson's work from 66 until he had his breakdown was genius.

This ain't novelty music. Neither is this. There's lots more examples. Basically anything they did from 1965 till the mid 70s is

I'm a fan of all the stuff, including the surf pop. And I agree about God Only Knows. Wilson said that Paul McCartney told him it was his favorite song, and then qualified it with a smirk, saying "I don't know if that's true or not."

Such a weird group -- the happy surf image, the tortured artist image, the sellout image, the Eugene Landy era, the casino-touring zombies edition who disavow anything after Pet Sounds...

1975. 17 y/o. I had a '68 Camaro convertible with an 8 track player. I had 2 tapes. Machine Head and....Endless Summer. As Lester Burnham said in American Beauty I had my whole life ahead of me.

WTF happened?

I guess I just wasn't made for these times, not interested at all, much as I love Pet Sounds and the singles created around that time. I heard Brian do the SMiLE show at Disney Hall in 2004, that was enough for me.
