You know, after the whole Penn State thing, I'm not that offended by this kind of assault on a kid.

Still, loosen up, sports dad.

Mike Milbury faces assault and battery charges for attacking a 12 year old during a Pee Wee hockey match. Luckily, the kid's skate was tied really tightly was not an NHL team, so Milbury had to settle for shaking him a bit couldn't run him into the ground with his idiocy and inexplicable longevity.

FTFY. Let's Go Islanders.

Parents used to mace each other in the stands during some of the hockey tournaments my brother played in. I've also seen a mother have to be held back to keep her from attacking one of my brother's teammates.

Hockey parents can be pretty horrible.

this was a surprise...i hope this works out for the kid.

Ahh, another sport figure teaching the kids good sportsmanship and how to be a "man".

Yah, rah rah.

Apparently his bail was originally set at $5,000. He negotiated it to $1,000,000 and a first round pick.

Like many others have said, as long as this gets him off TV, it is a positive. Oh, he'll be replaced by someone whose job is to do the same thing - say stupid crap as some sort of ticket to drama and controversy, but at least him and his ugly mug and shameful past won't be profiting from it.

Then again, that replacement could be Roenick. Like it matters, I suppose. That role is filled to be hated and I never stick around for intermission, anyway.

I'm no Milbury fan, but I'm going to go with his version on this one. The hockey mom that demanded he be charged is one of the screaming harpies that should never be allowed to breed. At the least, she shouldn't be allowed in the arena when her kid is playing. She's one of those that thinks her crotchfruit is the next coming of Gretzky, when at best he's going to be a Domi style thug. As a ref for 20 years, I know hockey moms, and they are all psycho coonts.

Ahhh this is overblown. The kid can take it, he's a hockey player for Gods sake. It's not like this is some pussy sport like baseball or God forbid basketball. Where all the players are fragile little snowflakes. Oh, and keep the women out of Hockey, keep them to watching soccer matches and the two previously mentioned pussy sports.

I might have to hip check you for that statement and I do have generous hips.

My stance as a hockey mom is to let the coaches and refs to deal with my kid. I want him to at least play long enough to outgrow the equipment I paid an arm and leg for. Not all of us are nuts, and the other female hockey fans on Fark know the sport well.

Something something $1,000,000 and a pick.

Thought it was funny that the news last night in Bston ran a "Millbury's greatest hits" of his famous arguments, including the shoe fight and that time he was yelling at the refs all the way to the lockerroom.

Ah Milbury, finally found someone at your skill level to pick on...way to go.

Milbury . Caught sayof hockey that has stoped fighting " See, told ya so" Is He $5000 bond or not. CNN Says yes. Boston.com Looking for $1,000,000 -OR- "hello, I am first round pick and wait for release again"

Yes, BUT

If you've refereed minor hockey, you know that coaches aren't allowed to get involved in breaking up fights between players. Something definitely funky went on there.

Also, Jacques Martin got canned this morning.

I thought Roenick did well in comparison when he and Milbury did the Olympics together. So even though I am not a Roenick fan, I'd consider is a step up.

I was talking with my buddy about this the other day, how there's so many good guys in hockey that are retired and all they can drag out is the likes of Milbury and Barnaby? I would have to think both these guy's broadcast careers are done. Why take a chance on some nutjob when you can have a guy like Aaron Ward (as an example) between intermissions? At least all Roenick will do is shed a few tears here and there.

On the good side, if these charges stick Milbury won't be able to get over the border to be on CBC any more. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Unbunch your panties. I didn't make the initial comment nor did I get dressed down. "Oh, and keep women out of hockey"...really? You people have no sense of humour. Re-read the Boobies and tell me it isn't a satire of the Don Cherrys of this world.

I played hockey from mites to junior A's. Best fight I ever saw was between two sets of grandparents70+ going at it from opposing teams. Highlight was one grandmother kicking a player's parent trying to break them up in the balls. Guy went down like a building implosion.
