The motivational speaker and inspiration for the 1993 Sean Astin vehicle has been accused by the SEC of participating in a fraudulent "pump-and-dump" penny stock scheme.

Pump-and-dump? My favorite hooker charges double for one of those.

He'll get acquitted. It's well known that Rudy can't fail.

Really? WTF is your definition of an inspirational movie (do you know what inspirational means?). The guy was a dick but i do think it qualifies as inspirational.

I think I have a reasonably good grasp of the meaning of inspirational

Huh. I always thought Rudy was the story of the semi-retarded waterboy who "could do it."

Yeah, it did look like that. It also appeared to be a half sack (snicker) too.

I was wondering that as well. I loved the pretty damn clear "you farked up" chants. Who knew they were playing in the ECW Arena?

Bah, I don't think most people care enough for there to be a thread.

I'm rooting for the Warhawks here. I grew up in Waukesha, WI and UWW is like the fallback school to your fallback school around those parts.

Most of the story was fabricated. Dan Devine openly wanted Rudy to play in the last game and in fact, it was tradition that all senior football players got in on at least one play in the final home game so that they too could say that they played. There was no handing in of jerseys, no sideline chant. Although he was carried off the field, it was done in sarcasm. not inspiration.

Who gives two shiats how much of it was real, except the real-life people behind it? Was Hoosiers less inspirational because the coach wasn't actually as handsome as Gene Hackman?

There was some light chanting by the bench, not at all like the movie portrays in that the whole stadium was chanting though. And the Montana claim that carrying him off the field was a joke has been disputed by other players (new window).

Coming up on the end of the regular season, how can there not be a daily "talk about football stuff in general here" thread, really.
