It's safe to say I won't be working with some of those people ever again... Not the actors. And the director (Mike Mitchell) was great. We got along.

So, not the actors, and not the director. That leaves, what, the writers? Sound engineers? Craft service?

That's usually it in these situations. Hollywood producers tend to think they know better than the actual creative minds (see Kevin Smith's well documented Jon Peters stories), and in those situations they're usually complete idiots.

Hey, the sound engineers are always cool. And that's in post anyway. And you can't blame the writers because Dave would have surely approved the script before signing on to an opus such as "The Chipmunks 2". Craft services are used to taking shiat and are pretty used to dealing with it. I'm guessing it's just self loathing on his part.

Although Cross did, in fact, sign on for "Chipmunks 2", this one is actually "Chipmunks 3", so he's that much more of a whore.

I think it's more a comment on David Cross' stand up bit and his attitude twoard's Hollywood and the fact he seems to have made himself part of the machine that he professes to hate.

It's not quite on the level of, say, Carlos Mencina complainging about people stealing his jokes. It's close though.

David made a career out of ridiculing the entertainment industry and society as a whole. He can do all the shiatty movies he wants (for whatever reason) but I reserve the right to make fun of him for participating in crappy projects. I am glad he is getting paid but I think coming out and telling us that Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 was a terrible experience is a bit redundant.

I hardly think a comedian taking on an acting role for a bad movie is the same as a band when it comes to being a sell out. Nickelback isn't being hired to play music they consider bad, Nickelback is creating the bad music themselves, and claiming its good.
