There was a time when I thought it would be a lot of fun to hop freight trains and travel around the country. But I bet after the first hour or so it gets really farking boring. Also the dangers are quite real.

I've heard of getting a lump of coal for Christmas, but this is ridiculous.

And a little bit sad.

Lived adjacent to some railroad tracks in Buffalo, NY. Used to hitch shorts rides on freight, coal, and tanker cars.

/Only nearly got my feet cut off once when I slipped off the ladder.

If only he and his companion had managed to open and crawl in that tanker car filled with Sherman Williams paint they could have had a more colorful end.

And from a Darwinian perspective one very good decision.

We make so many efforts to protect fools in this country, but they still manage to find a way.

Sad. I meant quit a few train hoppers around town and most of them are really nice people, even let two stay at my house once after meeting them at a bar. There are all kinds, Most are just suburban white kids who are given money by their parents but still want to live the "punk" life or whatever. Not something I am interested in or would ever do but I think i respect them for doing what they want to do rather then just live in their parents basement or work an office job.
