Like we need another bubble.

Aaaaand I'd still be down 10%.

Rat pelts? Everyone knows the future is in squirrels! Thicker coats AND tastier meat.

Seeing how the market has fluctuated over the last year (esp. after the debt downgrade) it's entirely possible that at some point in the next six months, it'll be up 10%. Then this guy will claim victory and be hailed as a visionary. Then the market will be down 10% again, and nobody will hear anything from him.

Bah. I could sit out on my back porch and kill squirrels with a .22 all day. Just throw out a little dried corn and they'll run right up to you.

When society collapses, squirrels will be extinct in 3 months. Rats have long term investment potential.

Stock market ! = Economy

Algorithmic high frequency trading has decoupled the stock market from the actual economy. When the Squid can do things like dump 10,000 buy orders at a time to raise the price of a stock and then pull those buy orders back a few milliseconds later, with no intention of actually buying anything, why should anyone participate? It destroys real price discovery.

Many investors have seen this and refuse to even participate in the market anymore. Hence the pathetically low volume these days. Volume is non-existent, the economy is worse off than ever, yet the market somehow keeps charging back? Haha.

House of cards.

Yes. This.

A lot of people dont realize that economists all have the same data, so what sense does it make for them all to make the same predictions? There would be no need for all of them. So they deviate slightly or make bold predictions in the hopes of being right. It's like, if you're betting, now, on the superbowl, how much sense does it make to pick the packers? Everyone is doing that, pick a good team like the Lions in the hope they get lucky.

SEC complaint vs. Fannie Mae executives (new window)

I say this because today the SEC charged 6 executives with securities fraud.

Merry Christmas.

You illiterate rubes. You have to diversify and hedge, people! I've got a fund that pools rodent pelt outfits (rat, squirrel, chipmunk, vole), and hedges with the eutheria infraclass pelts (deer and horse, primarily).

I can see that. All it takes is for Ben to keep devaluing the dollar with his printing presses.

Because after Europe goes down, the DJIA will crash to 5000 and the dead cat bounce will take it to 5500. 10% gain. Ta-da.

The last jobs numbers were under 400,000 and the best numbers since 2008. Plus what's actually happening doesn't necessarily have any effect on the stock market. Up 10% makes just as much sense as anything else.
