Awesome.
In general, I'm not a tough guy or a "bruiser" by any means. However, when I use to play hockey, fighting was half the fun. Both teams expect it and look forward to it. A good time is had by all.

You lost, other team rubs it in, so you fight. And the parents cheer. They're breeding a bunch if Avery and Suttons right there.

Laughing to the point of tears here...I'd be torn between cheering and horror if my son acted like that on the ice.

I'm in the lol camp on this one, too. With a touch of cringe though. Skates are sharp and I kept waiting for the kids to rip that guys shins up.

All the kids came in, dropped sticks, squared off and let it go on the ice. It was less shocking to see the kids fight as it was to see them looking like freaking consumate, gentlemen, fighting pros.

Notice how nobody goes near the kid in green that's a foot and a half taller than everyone else.

Kids might want to fight, but they're not stupid.

That kid (2) zips in at .16 and goes after two bigger kids. Looks like he really wanted some more.

Any word on how many Boston Bruins scouts were in the stands?

We used to fight in the locker room after practice before the coach came in. It was so much fun and no one got hurt. Until the day the coach came in early. He gave Ricardo a split lip by banging his helmeted head on the bench. Good times... good times...

My son missed the Squirt cutoff by a month and is the tallest/biggest kid in his grade, so he's massive compared to the other Mites. He's like Chara: when kids skate into him, they bounce right off.

As the parent of an 11 year-old who has been playing hockey since he was 5, I was most disturbed that the parents cheered the players when the fight was over. WTF? In our league, every single kid in the fight would have been brought before the league discipline committee, and the kids would all serve game suspensions and/or be suspended from the league for some time as punishment. I've seen a few small fights (usually retaliation after a cheap hit) that were immediately stopped by the officials, and the kids involved were escorted off the ice and given game misconduct penalties that resulted in them not being able to play in the next two or three games. There is no place for fighting at this age level. It's a rough enough sport as it is. (Just ask my son, who broke his ankle three weeks ago in a game...) Just my opinion.

It's Kazakhstan... They can just buy these kids on the black market and get them into the secret Junior Bruiser Program the Bruins have in the basement of a tenement in Charlestown.

Up until the current generation of coddled pantywaists, a good percentage of kids throughout history "brawled" as a part of growing up. It built character and taught you that if you weren't good at fighting, you'd damned well better get good at something else that would save your ass, like negotiating, bribing, or running like hell. Where do you think politicians come from?
