I'd take fifty cents over this piece of shiat iTouch. You suck apple.

I have a Galaxy S 2. It's all kinds of neat.

2011-12-16 09:10:56 AM
Subtard, would that be because said phone would end up being placed on the lost stolen list and therefore useless unless the mugger wanted to activate the phone on a network like Cricket?

Carry a burner* and you wouldn't have this problem.

Wait, are you telling me thieves prefer stealing something that people pay hundreds of dollars for as opposed to something that more often than not comes complimentary with a contract?

2011-12-16 09:15:54 AM
That's actually not that surprising. Droids are a dime a dozen and constantly evolving, so the "old" ones go out of style fairly quickly. The iPhone, on the other hand, is largely the same now as it ever was, so the resale value is what it is. There aren't multiple versions of constantly changing iPhones so there's no reason for the value on the used market to go down based on improvements to the device.

Why would Apple users dogpile on Apple products?

Sell to beanie wearing hipster
????? Profit

Actually they wanted money instead of a Droid, specifically. Really, who can blame them. Why would they want a Droid? It is Verizon only, can't just swap a SIM and resell it.

(Point is, article is written wrong. Article says specifically, a Droid. It should have said "an android=powered phone")

You know how I know you are an Apple fanboi that doesn't know shiat about Android phones?

It's obviously got to to do with the expected street resale, which may or may not be realistic, considering how stupid criminals notoriously are. I once had my truck gone through by petty crooks, who were so stupid they jacked open the console -- which was not even locked. They didn't find any drugs or booze or cash, but they ignored the $500 Weber performance carburetor in the back.

Or perhaps Blackberries typically contain security features that are harder to defeat, but I think it's more likely got to do the bling factor: the iPhone is prettier, and easier to sell to other unscrupulous people.

Also, a lot of Blackberries -- including mine -- are directly linked to various professional organisations, they may pose a higher risk if stolen, since they're just as traceable but perhaps harder to delink from those professional connections.

As for the Droid, I suppose it's that it's just not as costly to buy one, as the price is more market-managed than Apple's tight-fisted approach, and doesn't have as captive a consumer crowd, since in theory any phone can run some version of the Droid software, so they don't all have to be uber-costly bling sold by one single company.

I love my android phone and tablet, but I don't hate the iphone or ipad at all. Why there is this belief that it's not possible to like both is confusing to me.

I would have got an ipad instead of my android tablet, but I gots to have me some embedded flash to get the "real internet" feel when surfing. Other than that one little flaw, and the ipad is awesomeness.

Stupid robbers. If they were to take my iPhone, I can go to any computer, log onto my AppleCare account and disable it. I can even wipe it completely. The phone becomes useless until Apple helps ME reactivate it. I can report the phone stolen and then, if the thief or buyer of said phone tries to activate service on it the provider or Apple will confiscate it. I can do the same thing to my MacBook Pro.

Are Androids really that bad? Several people at work have them and they look pretty cool. They seem pleased with them.

2011-12-16 09:25:41 AM
That is because if someone steals an Android, the phone is useless and they will get caught due to the nice security on it. A stolen Android is useless unless you plan to sell it and rip the buyer off.

2011-12-16 09:27:15 AM
Especially a mugger, the follow-the-crowd, me-too, dropped out of school cause I'm too cool and now I got no job type mugger. And the type whose mom's drank too much while pregnant.

Why anyone want a phone that allows them the chose the programs they install instead of requiring the blessing of holy Apple? If Apple wants to have control over iPhones they should just keep them instead of selling them.

2011-12-16 09:29:42 AM
Well, they're stealing it so they can sell it. So they only want things people will blindly pay out the ass for.

You can do the same thing with Android phones. Remote wipe, locate. etc. Considering what iPhones and Androids are capable of it's a pretty simple function.

JackieRabbit: Are Androids really that bad?

No, they're just not worth much used because unless you break it or you're stupid you might as well just get a new one free on contract so you have all the latest hardware and gadgetry. iPhones don't change very often, so you can't really do that, so the resale value is much better.

I wound up with an Android despite my continuing disdain for the pocket-size computer movement. It's alright. It occasionally has weird battery problems and annoying glitches (the keyboard occasionally lags heavily while typing out a phrase or the "Mobile connection" widget locks up and won't turn the data connection on or off until I do it manually from a menu) but it's more powerful than an iPhone and has a much larger screen which is nice for an old feller like myself who has to squint to see a highway sign if he's not wearing his glasses.

All in all, it's less stable than my wife's iPhone4, but it's also more powerful and has a wider variety of "neat" bits.

In the end, despite the ongoing stupidity of True Believers, I can't imagine why you wouldn't just try each one out and pick whichever one you wanted based on what you're looking to get out of it. People that fight over telephone superiority are incredibly stupid.

I got this iTouch for free.

It would have gotten returned pretty quick if I had been foolish enough to plunk down money for it.

I also "love" not being able to watch all those videos cause jobs threw a snit fit over Adobe. Yeah that guy was the Einstein of business.

There was a study a while back that showed iPhone users were predominantly in the lowest socio-economic group, or the lowest wage earners, which would make them perfect for criminals. Muggers are pretty low in society. Therefore this makes perfect sense.

2011-12-16 09:40:13 AM
Of course these muggers want backup iPhones.

You have to replace the whole phone when the battery gets weak.

It wouldn't surprise me if every iPhone user had 2 or three iPhones lying around just so that one of them was always operational.

No its not. Android is at least a year if not more behind the iPhone and Blackberry in terms of security functionality. I'm going through another review of Android again and I'm going to decline giving access to corporate resources again.

/and "face unlock" is not a security feature - what. the. fark. is google thinking?

Sorry, but I'll take my Thunderbolt any day over an iPhone. Apple products are the same as always- with the exception of the iPod, which was truly groundbreaking, most Apple products are for people who are afraid of technology and want a device that does everything for them, so that they don't have to really learn how to do anything except maybe tap an icon or push a button.Whether this is intimidation or something else doesn't matter. Apple's gimmick is taking already existing technology and dumbing it down so it's drop-dead easy to use and pretty much idiot-proof. And if that's what you want then that's great. But don't make it out as if those who don't embrace Apple are uninformed losers. In fact it may be just the opposite

I have never understood this fanboy crap. I have a Droidx and I would fight pretty hard before I gave it up. But only because I can read my work email, use the GPS and the MP3 Player in the car, the alarm clock at home, and literally watch the NFL from the freaking thing when Im not at home.

Im sure other phones do the same thing, but I dont care. I only care that mine does.

Same as my car. I have a Honda Civic, and the part I like best is that, when I mash on the gas pedal, it takes me to work and back.
