Whats more pathetic?

• A Fark Article about a theater oepning in Clearwater
or
• Thinking the residents in Clearwater haven't "checked out" a Tom Cruise film.

This one is tough.

Well, As a former long time resident of Clearwater, the movie theater scene there was dying for decades. As old malls got torn down the theater would go with it, and when AMC pulled out of Countryside Mall (where they just opened the new theater) the old theater building became a gym which I believe is still on the premises. This new one seems to be pretty high tech, with the moving seats and all that jazz, but from the news reports I've heard, the individual theaters are tiny, one only having 42 seats, .

Clearwater is also well known sadly for being scientology central. Thankfully this mall is nowhere near downtown Clearwater.

Clearwater hasn't had a first-run movie theater since 2002. For years, city residents have been forced to travel to Oldsmar, Largo, Palm Harbor and Pinellas Park to see new releases.

Yeah, that 15 minute drive...might as well be on the moon.

Ironically, downtown Clearwater is about a 15 minute drive from this new theater.

To be fair, there is a Sears pictured with TFA, so it lends to the notion that Clearwater may, indeed, be antiquated to some degree.

Downtown Clearwater is creepy. Scientologists crawling around everywhere. It's like Day of the Dead with skinny ties.

/actually the Oldsmar theater is more like a 2 minute drive from the new theater

Countryside is actually pretty nice but I don't think it's part of Clearwater.

Also there is a theater in Largo called the Tri-City AMC which is like 2 minutes from Clearwater.

Largo is like Clearwater except not as classy.

My family lives in a city of 120,000 people in northern San Diego County that went about 10 years without a movie house.

I'd rather go to the movie theater at BayWalk in St. Petersburg. The constant fear of gunfire by one of the roaming gangs makes a movie that much more exciting.

Anyone actually used those new D BAG Box seating? I can't imagine them being very fun for movies. Particularly for romantic comedies, lol. Maybe when Jennifer Aniston comes on screen, the device shakes the hell out of you until you're back to your senses and you decide to leave.

EABOD. I live downtown and stumble home from bars drunk at 3am and have never feared for my life.

That's because you're drunk. Try stumbling home at 3am sober sometime. You'll be drenched in a liquid that is three quarters sweat and one heaping helping of urine. With a smidge of semen... but it won't be your semen.
