Thank god this didn't happen in Britain, or the dogs would all be shot by now and the homeowner would be the personal slave to the terribly inconvenienced alleged "wrong-doer".

Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

Or rather, just into the fire.

Wonder why the dogs weren't sitting there growling and barking as he was climbing the fence. Must be stealth pit bulls.

I'm surprised that the police were able to piece enough of him together to charge him with anything.

2011-12-16 12:35:41 AM

I have my moments of poor reasoning, but I can't figure out how this guy just looked at a house with a ten foot fence and decided "Yea, I'm gonna trespass here without checking the situation. What could happen to me?"

I guess it could have been worse: he could have trespassed onto some cop's property who would have shot him dead. Is the guy's name H.I. McDunnough?

2011-12-16 12:38:48 AM
They just gnawed him a bit. Took it easy on him, really. Maybe they felt sorry for him, screaming and carrying on like that.

"The suspect was unable to walk due to his injuries, so the homeowner placed the suspect on a hand truck and moved him to the street," Whitcomb said. "The homeowner flagged down a passer-by and asked them to call 911."

Prior to this article i was unaware of the term "hand truck".

Although after googling it, i think i'm going to go with Hannibal Lectern instead.

tried to find one closer to the story, but just wondering if he attempts to sue the homeowner. I know he was trespassing but it would not be a surprise to anyone with how litigious society is if this guy sues.

Hey, at least he got the handtruck.
Hmm, let's work with this info. S. Seattle, 10 ft fence, 4 pitbulls. They knew wheeling him out would give them enough time to clean up the house, if you know what I mean.

Hey cops..... A proper charge please of "trespassing at night"(using 'disguise of darkness' for whatever crime), as it carries a tougher charge than daylight trespassing.

They'll go easy on him hoping he gives them enough info to get a no knock warrant on the house, or somethin'.

Ha, I knew this story would involve someone going to Harborview! Somehow that hospital seems to end up with every drug-related stabbing, random sniping, and people with bizarre self-inflicted injuries, like that guy who guillotined his own arm a while back and this guy (I would count jumping a ten-foot fence without checking what's behind it as self-inflicted. With luck the cops will as well).

They also get the serious nutcases.
I took a friend there for concussion; head injuries like that are pretty low on the priority list I guess, but the wait in ER was entertaining and frightening.

I've mentioned this on FARK before, but so what: My sister used to own a Victorian in Eureka, that had an eight-foot wooden fence. One day, she was home alone, and the neighbor called saying that she'd just seen a guy jump our fence and he was in our backyard. My sis said thanks, and let Thor, our Rottweiller out the side door, telling him "Go See!", which is his command to be on alert. He just missed eating the guy, as he scrambled over the fence just ahead of the dog. My sis went to the back door and yelled at the guy "What in the hell were you doing in my back yard?!?" He answered, "I thought it was MY yard!" She replied, "I bet 'ya didn't think that was YOUR DOG!"

jjorsett: Wonder why the dogs weren't sitting there growling and barking as he was climbing the fence. Must be stealth pit bulls.

Story incoming:

When I was a kid, I had an Aussie Shepard named Buck - and he never barked. His best buddy was our Boxer, Bear, who barked like a foghorn. For the two of them - this bark/no-bark arrangement worked perfectly. Bear would get the snake/turtle/etc's attention with his LOUD NOISES! while Buck snuck around behind the animal and struck quickly. The two could kill a water moccasin in two minutes with this little hunting style of theirs.

Since my father worked away from home during the week, my mom and I were often alone on our farm. One night, we heard Bear barking his fool head off, and figured something must have gotten into the back yard with the dogs. As we looked out the window, we saw a poor idiot staring at the Boxer with a look of "how do I get around this thing?" At which point, Buck jumped him from behind. They guy had no idea the Shepard was in the zip code.

We kinda felt sorry for the guy, I mean it does suck having a Boxer barking inches from your face while a Shepard has you back the back of the neck. But, we called the dogs off and phoned the cops. The guy just looks up at my mom (who has a .38 in hand) and says, "Lady, I never though a woman with a gun in my face would be a welcome sight."

Both dogs got good eating for weeks after.

/CSB over

Seattle Animal Shelter Director Don Jordan said that they are investigating the incident and will look into whether the dogs have any previous history of biting. He said the dogs were quarantined on Thursday, as is routine with any dog-bite investigation.

"I don't have any reason to believe anything is going to happen to the dog owner or the dogs," Jordan said. "But he can only have three dogs, so he is in violation of the zoning code."

Awesome. Victim of an attempted crime? Don't worry. We'll charge you for everything we can.

"We're all glad you escape that knife murderer, but fleeing across the street like that WAS jaywalking..."

Not saying that this guy should violate zoning codes, but something stinks about the victim of a crime winding up getting shaken down.
