To be fair, there wasn't much of a career before either...

Anyway, I still like him - he should be in more movin' pictures.

Well, he wasn't exactly a draw for Voyager. Even after clicking the link it took me a minute to remember there even was an Ensign Kim.

The name in the headline didn't even ring a bell. I had to go, "okay...last nameWang? Asian Star Trek cast member, who's not George Takei. It's a dude, so it's not the chick from Enterprise...um...uh...the dork from Voyager?"

Hell, looking through Voyager cast, the only ones with non-dead post Voyager careers:
Nelix
The Doctor
Tuvok
Little bit of Janeway (more active recently; also, I didn't realize she did voice work for Bioware)

Supposedly, he was dragooned into being in charge of the "Trek Track" during last year's Dragon*Con (the guy who used to be in that position retired the previous year I heard). The poor fellah seemed to be in way over his head and things just went to hell in a handbasket cuz he was running around like a headless chicken doing everything. He even had to get up from his own seat during Trek panels to fill everyone else's water glass at the table. WTF?

He was going to be dumped in the 4th season, but at the last minute he made it into some magazine's "sexiest men alive" list, so Paramount decided to keep him around.

If you'd like a reminder, SF Debris has a rather nice montage of Ensign Kim's "accomplishment's" on Voyager a little after the nine minute mark in part one of his "Scorpion" review. Link goes to the Star Trek page, scroll down for the link to the video (new window). The writers actually did such a poor job with the character that they gave him fodder for Ensign Kim jokes in every episode. I cannot remember an SF Debris Voyager review that didn't include at least one Kim joke. Poor, dumb Harry.

You forgot Seven-of-Nine (new window) - one of the only characters they actually bothered to develop in that series. She's had a pretty fair resume since the series ended.

Despite his crap role, I thought he did a pretty good job with it. Thinking back on it, messing with the asian guy was about as racist as star trek ever got. But he stood up to and carried himself with dignity. Hope he gets into a good low budget sci-fi flick. We could do with more of those, and less purposefully shiatty (syfy) ones.

Poor Garrett. He doesn't deserve that... it's like he's the exact same kind of pushover ensign Kim was.

I passed him once on the stairs in the building I worked at in Hollywood. I said, "Excuse me, are you Ensign Kim?" And he smiled came down, and we talked for a bit about the upcoming season (Species 8472 / Seven). He was really nice.

Paris is an in-demand teevee director; he's done a ton of Chuck.

And you really can't shake a stick without hitting a series that Jeri Ryan hasn't been in these days.

Umm apparently the photographer?

Seeing as all three of them have kids and have been married to women (men in Mulgrews case)

Is subby confusing Classical British Actors, for homosexuals? If so i'd watch out in those bars you frequent, for people you consider to be Rada trained actors...

I'm pretty happy that Neelix is still getting work. Got a great personal story about how cool the guy is.

Was at a local convention, fairly small, and it was about time for the Ethan Phillips panel (Neelix). So, I staked out a good seat a little early and waited for it to begin. Little while later other people start coming in, taking seats, and an older balding guy sits down next to me. You know, typical trekkie type. We start making small talk about Voyager, who our favorite characters were (I said I liked Kes and Neelix the best, which was true), favorite episodes, that sort of thing. Standard convention smalltalk. Announcer got up on stage to start announcing Ethan Philips when the guy I had been talking to got up to leave. And walked up onto the stage. And took the mic.

I completely did not recognize the guy without the makeup on. Same thing happened to me with Tom Savini in a green room once, but thats another story.

Maybe he means that you can see a bit of the new Spock's eyebrow in a poster behind Kate Mulgrew's shoulder?

400 years later, a game of trivia is played in a stuck turbolift of the USS Voyager ...

"Who was the first African American President of the USA?"

"Barack Obama"

*everyone looks at 7 of 9 with surprise*
