I fully support this idea. I think it would go over really well. Uh, she has to move there full time.

It's such an ancient pitch, but one that I'd never switch. Because there's no nicer witch than you.

Accuse a woman of witchcraft here in America and a lot of them would take it as a compliment.

WHAT?? No way!

That certainly doesn't sound like the Saudi Arabia I know.

You've got to have rocks in your head to try and pull off that sort of scam in The Kingdom. Religious farktards vs. medical scammers....there are no winners here.

But they did just agree to pump more oil to bring the price down so I am sure the oil consuming countries will turn their heads and ignore it if a few women get burned at the stake for witchcraft.

This is a tactic that Sado Arabia (That's what I call that sh*thole) does whenever they find some uppity female that wants reforms.

Even they tend to shy away from charging a person with protesting because of the obvious international outcry it would attract, so they just call it witchcraft (cuz only someone in league with the Devil would not want to wear a black bag over them during Summer in the desert or to have their vay-jays sliced off, right?) and it resonates with the Arabian version of Alabama rednecks there.

WTF? I thought that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), was prophet to both the Djinn and Humans.

Silly me, expecting people to read their wholey books.

CSB: My next-door neighbor had the strangest family. 5 kids, all home-schooled and devoutly religious. Well the pokemon fad just hit and EVERYONE was collecting those pokemon cards (I stuck with MagicTG, you know the more sophistocated game). My neighbor (aged 12, 2 years younger than me) starts spending all of his allowance on the cards. He was picking them up left and right and actually had some valuable ones from what I can remember. Well one day his sister gets really pissed at him for some stupid reason and she decides to hop on the internet. 2 searches later she prints out a sheet from some crazy religious website that proved pokemon cards "were from the devil to pull children away from God and worship false idols" and handed it to the mom. That afternoon he comes over to my house crying with his full set of cards and says his mom is making him give them away and hands them all to me. I asked him what he wanted me to do since I wouldn't use them and he said he didn't care.

One trip with my dad to the local card shop later and I had close to $300 cash (well actually around $250 because I was building a Sliver deck and they had a Sliver Queen & assorted others I had to get).

Look, I am a pretty liberal guy. Don't care about a person's religion, and I think bigots who jump at a chance to badmouth another person's way of life are pretty scuzzy.

But extremists of ANY religion are bad. I don't care who they pray to or what color they are. Gather them together and set them on fire or chop their heads off. I don't give a F*ck. It will make the world a MUCH better place.

Yes there are folks as nutty as this in the USA, However, virtually none of them want to impose the death penalty for "practicing witchcraft." They can't "repent" and be "saved" if they are dead. Even the furthest right wing theocracy, assuming it could take over America, would not be as evil and corrupt as Saudi Arabia's.

There are lots of Saudis and Gulf Arabs who believe in supernatural stuff, potions and spells and talismans and curses and the Evil Eye. I was always quite bewildered by it when I lived in the Middle East.

Did you catch the video at the end of the article? Quoting: "if I thought my brother was an infidel I would have said it was OK to execute him". The guy saying that is not an extremist. I don't have a problem with badmouthing that kind of thinking, do you?

Yep. The Crucible: Saudi Arabian style

I've always wondered how many people who throw the name of God around actually believe in God or they are, in truth, barely believers, agnostic or atheists who are just doing it because it serves their agenda. I mean, God is the ultimate excuse. He never responds with, "Hold on, you said I want you to do WHAT? Oh, no, no, no. Leave me out of your crazy."

TFA seems to say they're arresting astrologers, faith healers, and your run-of-the-mill charlatan. I'm picturing the lady who tells you you've got a curse on you and the only way to remove it is to bury a box with $20,000 in it in an easily recoverable place.

Maybe the problem here is a mistranslation. Arresting "Religious Fraudsters", I could get behind that.

2011-12-15 03:03:07 PM
In yet another reminder that the phrase "witch hunts" isn't only used figuratively these days, the Saudi Interior Ministry announced on Monday that it had beheaded a woman named Amina bint Abdul Halim bin Salem Nasser for practicing "witchcraft and sorcery." The London-based al-Hayat newspaper, citing the chief of the religious police who arrested the woman after a report from a female investigator, claims Nasser was tricking people into paying $800 per session to have their illnesses cured.

Am I a bad person for thinking the so-called "witch" got what she deserved here?
