Red Sox owner John Henry and his wife, Linda Pizzuti-Henry, will join Governor Chafee Thursday to announce a new scholarship program for "academically talented Rhode Island public high school graduating seniors who have demonstrated their commitment to community service."

No point wasting it on those idiot kids from Massachusetts I guess.

Once they're accepted, they only have to pay $100 for a lifetime membership in Scholarship Nation, and $100 more if they want their transcript etched onto a brick that will live forever on the sidewalk outside the park.

So what would happen if Tim Tebow joined the Red Sox? Would the resulting collision of irresistible forces cause the world to end during the last month of the season?

The first recipient: Nick Punto.

Well, the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox are there, so there's that connection.
